Mileage -- what are you getting

Just wondering, see I use my Z as my primary car and I do a lot of long distance driving. The car was purchased with that in mind. Bought the car in Oct 2011 and I have close to 12,000 miles on it. Following Nissan maintenance plan as to oil change and stuff.

In the past two days I have driven 725 miles and here are my mileage results

Atlanta to corbin ky, 27.2 mpg / 59.1 average speed, its summer construction
corbin ky to dayton, oh 26.5 mpg / 51.2 average speed, there was a huge accident, did 5 miles in an hour
dayton, oh to Columbus, oh 28.2 mpg / 60.2 average speed

before the slow down in going from corbin ky to dayton, oh I was getting 27.7 mpg.

oil temp has not been over 220, but this is 12 with the built in oil cooler

I am impress, but was wondering what you folks might be getting on long drives. Other note: Car is stock, no engine mods/tweaks/etc

I get about 25 mpg on strict highway driving at about 70 mph, about 18 mpg in "spirited" driving around town. If I let my mileage display go without resetting for about a month, the display of average mpg is virtually always 21.1 mpg.

24.2 mpg if I don't let it reset

canes7 06-02-2012 07:10 AM

Hgwy avg. 29.7 @ 70-75 mph with cruise set.
Cruising around town 21'ish.
Fun driving around town 17'ish.

KERMIT 06-02-2012 07:30 AM

24.2 when I don't reset, 30%/70% city/highway(80mph)

If I can slow down to 70mph it's 26-27 avg

Steady state highway (resetting at speed)
70mph 28-29mpg
80mph 25-26mpg

I get about 17, but everywhere I go where I live is a hill. I've reset before a long highway drive before (about 2 hours ~ 130 miles) and gotten 31 though. All I have is HPS post-mafs right now.

I am getting 16mpg driving like a madman on 93 octane. I get better in winter about 18 mpg. I have never been above 19 mpg.

Zenki370 06-02-2012 08:08 AM

On a strict highway trip, Ive pulled 25-29mpg. Overall, I end up in the 20-21 range by the time the city driving comes into play.

Juruki 06-02-2012 08:18 AM

17mpg 50% highway 50% streets

BigT 06-02-2012 08:27 AM

85% of my driving used to be city. I was averaging 17.5. I now have a larger commute, about an hour and 15 minutes and mostly highway, and I'm averaging 27 if I can keep it under 70mph. Cruising down to Atlantic City, about a 3 hour drive, I averaged 26 at 75mph with the ac cranked up. One time, I purposely was trying to get good mileage and would not go over 65mph. It was a cool night so no ac and the gauge was reading 29.7.

Oddly enough, highway cruising in 85 degree weather and the ac on, and no overheating issues. The temp gauge sat comfortably at 218 degrees. I have an 11.

Track: 8 mpg
Normal stop and go: 22 mpg
Intestate: 26mpg @ 78mph

MacLean 06-02-2012 12:39 PM

The best I got was 27.5 @ 65 mph on cruise control, but this was only for 40 miles (maybe 45 miles). Supposedly the best optimal speed to go to get the best mpg is 65 mph & for every 5 mph over 65 you lose 1-2 mpg.

Thechidz 06-02-2012 01:04 PM

did a trip from NYC to chicago and back and got about 28 mpg's. It's straight freeway and I averaged close to 90 mph.

buddyZ 06-02-2012 02:12 PM

Im getting 255 miles per tank, what is my mpg? also what is reset?

scottIN 06-02-2012 03:29 PM

This was a 720 mile trip -a lot of it through the mountains (Indy to Charleston, SC). Thought it was pretty decent.
