19" rims and Thule K-Summit Chains?
The manual clearly states that chains can only be used with the 18" rims, but I'm looking at the clearances, and it looks like these would work. Has anyone had a chance to try these out yet?
Thule K-Summit Basically, as a Southern California driver, I may need chains to make it up to Snow Summit during the winter weekends. Sometimes they require chains, and I can't really swing a beater or a rental every weekend during snowboard season. I'll probably also need to purchase a set of all seasons, as other posts have stated strongly that the summer tires don't really work on snow and ice. :-) I'm not really sure of the suspension travel, but it looks to me like it could work. |

Are these things street legal for blizzards on local roads? This may solve my snow problem...
I'd get all-seasons which are good enough for me throughout the year and then put these bad boys on during the 5-10 days a year in Chicago with serious snowfall. I'm tempted to get all-seasons for all-year use as I've found that the max performance summer tires rarely warm up enough during regular driving in Chicago to get all their potential grip. |

the 80's called and want their chains back...lol
it may say in the instructions you can use them, but most cities don't allow for it.. once you hit ~7 degrees CEL, all seasons are worthless, invest in winter tires |

I'd love to, but it seems that I'm not smart enough to figure out which rims will fit over my sport brakes. Thus, i can't buy any winter tires yet...there aren't any that fit the current sport rims, nor do I want to change out summer for winter tires on a single set of rims.
Essentially, I need a cost effective solution. My ideal would be a set of cheap 18" rims (if they'd fit over sport brakes) and a narrower set of winter tires to match. |

I dunno...I doubt I'll drive my 370z in winter...
Given insurance costs alone...most won't have enough insurance. I'd rather drive someone cheap/replacable. Keep the 370z for spring/summer/fall driving. |
