2nd is the party gear so that should definitely not be the case, unless like stated above you are shifting into it at very low RPM.

If you are in 2nd gear around 3k rpm and it feels slow, then there is definitely an issue.

the ecu will learn to save gas if you've been driving slow. try applying wider throttle intensionally in 2nd and the ecu will learn after a few times. it might help your case.

Humidity sucks the life out of engines... then heat eats their soul... together they murder performance slowly but surely

You could re-set the ECU by disconnecting the battery. Just remember to read up on how to re-set the windows.

Does the traction control light blink?

When you shift from first to second in a turn and the RPMs are too low, the Z will sense the car "slipping" and activate the traction control. The "sluggish" feeling could possibly be the traction control slowing down the spin of your wheels.

You can try shifting at a higher RPM and don't shift in the middle of a turn.

That seems strange. Definitely check it out again and confirm it.
