Nismo with a GT wing?

I wonder if anyone here has 370z Nismo (or a full OEM Nismo body kit) and installed a GT spoiler for track instead of the Nismo Spoiler. I wonder how the car looks like...

I tried it on Forza 4 but it doesn't look good (possibly because it sat more further up front in the flat spot of the trunk).....

scruffydog 07-06-2012 09:40 AM

I found the thread Japanese GT Cars....

This is what I am talking about...

That is a Sunline Racing rear wing...

http://www.sunlineracingusa.com/370Z/370Z-aero.html

It's only like $2100.

scruffydog 07-06-2012 11:40 AM

Really? I searched the sunline racing website, and I think the mount for the "370z 3D GT Wing type ZC" is different in that picture.

http://www.sunlineracingusa.com/imag...Twing2_300.jpg
http://www.sunlineracingusa.com/imag...Twing4_300.jpg
http://www.sunlineracingusa.com/imag...Twing1_300.jpg

I like how the ones in the Japanese GT picture sits a lot higher and has holes between the mount like the "3D GT Wing type Z for Nissan 370Z"
http://www.sunlineracingusa.com/imag...GTwing_300.jpg
But this one's bottom bracket which sits on the trunk doesn't mount on the edge.

It looks so much better when it sits on the edge and angles back like this one.

The one with the angled bracket looks like the INGS.

Poor eagle is going to get its wings clipped

Yea, I like the Bigger Bracket with holes on the Japanese GT Car more. It's more aggressive.

Funny thing I was having the same conversation with buddy about how there's so many haters out there would totally snap it in half. But if anyone were to spend $2000+ for the OEM Nismo wing and performs less, this would totally be a better buy for function and looks.

If you do it, some people will hate it. If you like it. Jump on it that what matters. Worst case, you could always take the wing off and beat them with it....

The ones in the picture are the Sun Line wings, the picture you posted is the wing for the 350Z.

*Taken from their site*

● Our 3D (3 dimensions) design generates significant down force without increasing much aerodynamic drag
● Three widths are offered ; 1,400mm, 1,500mm, or 1,600mm. The pictures are taken with the 1,600mm wing.
● Several height choices are offered from 195mm to 275mm. (195mm, 225mm, 245mm, and 275mm). The picture is taken with the 245mm height bracket on 350Z.
● Available in wet carbon or dry carbon

It's weird, if you look at the title it states for 370Z but the picture is a 350z.

And similarly, the following states it's for the 350Z but it shows a 370z.

This is what I'm looking for but I wasn't able to find this under the Sun Line Website:

Here we go again with the non functional Park Bench wing unless you track your car.

Cost $2 to $3K... :shakes head:

brucelidat 07-06-2012 09:17 PM

I agree, unless you are a serious tracker, do not do the wing. Unless you actually make use of it's intended function, it's super rice to me. Anyhow, that's just my opinion on it.

bigsix 07-06-2012 11:16 PM

That looks sweet. To use it for enhanced performance, you gotta drive really hard & fast.

I track my car so the wing will be functional to me.

OMGWTFBBQ 07-07-2012 12:56 AM

Not quite a Nismo, but here's a picture anyways.

If anything, you could get the INGS+1 wing and just have custom wing stands made for it to suit your desired angle and height.

brucelidat 07-07-2012 01:22 AM

is that Ricky's new Z?

OMGWTFBBQ 07-07-2012 01:50 AM

According to the thread I linked, apparently so, although I don't know him personally haha.

scruffydog 07-07-2012 01:59 AM

thank you for the picture. It means a lot to share. I am definitely going to save up for a Nismo body kit and add that functional wing. At times I do think it's a little too flashy to have the GT wing as oppose to the OEM Nismo Wing, but I do track my car so spending over $2K for a wing, I rather get myself one that serves a better purpose. So far everything I bought as upgrade for my car is functional. Everytime I come close to thinking of getting something like Nismo body kit with GT wing, I can't seem to be able to pull the trigger as it adds very little performance upgrade.

Anyway, I don't want to make this thread about me. It all started because I was curious to see if anyone has seen a Nismo with a GT wing. Now that I've seen it, I really dig it and would like to own it someday.

Thanks for sharing again guys!

he used to have a auto white full amuse Z (among other cars), parted it out. but now he got another manual Z, haha. probably missing all those parts now. he owns a tuning shop in orange county that does good work.

brucelidat 07-07-2012 02:02 AM

from what i hear from my buddies who track a lot, you probably don't need the GT wing unless you are doing high speeds (130+mph) at some big tracks like autoclub speedway. If you are on smaller more technical tracks, it won't help you as much is what I hear.

scruffydog 07-07-2012 11:32 AM

wow 130+ sounds impossible for any track I goto. Last track day I was at Thunderhill and I could barely hit over 100mph in the 2 long straights. I'm going to Laguna Seca tomorrow and I don't think I'll hit over 100mph for sure.

My buddy who tracks his 350z put a GT wing on his car a year ago and said it's noticeable difference when he's cornering. Prior to that he also only has the OEM lip like mine, except I think the 350z's OEM lips smaller. Anyway, as much as I like the wing, I don't like the fact that I can't drive my car once every 2 weeks out on the streets without the negative attention it'll bring. Maybe I'll just go with the Nismo Replica wing if I pull through with the Nismo Body Kit.

brucelidat 07-07-2012 12:23 PM

Autoclub Speedway here in Socal is a Nascar track. They have a big Roval where Zs ca easily hit 130. Willow Springs also has the Big Willow track which i haven't been to, bunt people say also has a big 130 mph capable turn. Those are the only 2 I know of where you can hit those speeds ad where a big wing would truly benefit you in this region.

OMGWTFBBQ 07-07-2012 01:33 PM

If anything, you could get the Nismo styled high wing. Looks similar to the Nismo, but a little bit wider and taller, although I'm not too sure how that affects aerodynamics. Possibly an aerodynamic gain, but without the attention a GT wing draws.

Not sure if this link is still relevant but here's some more info:
http://www.the370z.com/exterior-inte...-highwing.html

Might be outdated so just look around.

Another link, same wing, but on Amuse rear:

You know you won't be able to see out that back window right?

There's a small slit you can see through the back window in a stock Nismo w/ the wing. Very little visibility.

MattP725 07-07-2012 08:50 PM

IMO it will only look good on a fully tracked out car... such as the ones you posted pictures of. On a DD it will look like cheese IMO.

fixed

WWJD 07-08-2012 08:28 PM

370Z has a super wide chassis from stock, small wing wouldn't look good or big enough for functional purpose. Also, pay attention to different brands out there when choose a big GT wing. some wings carry with big penalty on drag.
I will have my wing finished up in a week, you can check back on my journal later and see if you like it or not.
