Default opinions on trading my Z

I need a car with a back seat at some point in the next year and Ive been browsing but Id just like to get some yall's perspective. Im looking at the mustang GT, bmw 135i, bmw 328i, and for giggles a wrx sti. Im just wondering if I should consider anything else. I have a trump card for considering one of those 2 bmw's as I work for a bmw dealer as a tech and my employee lease offer on either one of those two would knock about 40-60 off the monthly payment. Thoughts guys/gals?

P.S. I know someones going to ask why dont you get a m3 on your lease deal, last time they had a special deal it was 590 a month which is more then I can afford.

Two of my best friends have a mustang and a 135i. To be honest, it's not much of a back seat at all. Out of those two though, I would definitely get a 135i. You don't have to see your car everywhere you go. Also, you can get a lot of power out of your mods, albeit if they are expensive. I haven't driven a new 5.0 before, but the 135i feels great compared to the mustang that I've driven. The mustang was a decently modded 2008 Bullitt, and the 135i is pretty modded as well. The interior quality though is better on the 135i. You gotta go out and drive everything for yourself though as I'm sure you know. I personally would go with an sti out of your choices. You actually get real backseats, and it's awd. I almost bought one used instead of my z, but the deal fell through. Good luck with whatever you choose though.

What about something CPO ?

STI sounds like the better choice, and I wouldn't do a lease, IMO.

I need a back seat but the back seat is for use in a pinch, its not really critical that it be functional for regular use, its more for when my wife and I travel from miami to central fl where were from and have to haul stuff or people need to ride with us w/e. I drive the 135i's daily with my job and there a hoot both with the DCT and the manual trans. I havent driven a new mustang yet but the price, options and power stack up to make a pretty good arguement to consider them.

I dont get the employee discount with cpo and also I prefer the N55 engine over the N54.

335i or xi coupe depending on whether u feel u need awd or not, I love the 335 coupe, the 328 is nice but the slowest out of all those you listed...

Mustang GT's are sick but an honest dime a dozen. 135i would make u stand out I guess the most and at least if memory serves me the rear seats fold down to extend trunk space.

It wouldnt be all wheel drive if I got it, I live in florida so unless the car comes with it standard (STI) I wouldnt get it. The new 328 really isnt slower then the 335, not by much.

Why is it you prefer the n55 over the n54? I'm curious because i might be trading my 370 for 335 and was looking specifically for the n54 for the tuning advantages...

Rally, I havent looked into much of tuning aspects of the n54vsn55. I work on them daily and the N55 fixed alot of the N54's teething problems like the hdp pump, replacing the piezo injectors with solenoid injectors and overall a simpler engine design than the n54. Its easier for me to get to stuff on the N55 than the N54 and weve just had less problems than the N54.

Also and I know some might find this goofy but I love the sound that the N55 with the single turbo(dont know what Im talking about go you tube it) and for me the N55 seems to have less turbo lag then the N54. If you have an automatic then you wont really feel the lag difference too much but in a manual trans its aggravating as hell. A simple tune or plug and play chip would probably fix it but I havent read up to much on that.

Another point, you cant get a N54 with a DCT trans which is the trans I prefer unless you get a sdrive35 Z4 or a 335is which Im not considering either because the Z4 has no back seat obviously and the 335is is so friggin overpriced that you should just get a M3 and be done with it.

Back seat in the 5.0 is useless for anything but tiny kids or luggage. If you need space to put a kid... get a sedan. PITA reaching back into the back seat of a coupe to get a kid situated.

It is a beast, though.

Never had any intrest in a evo, dont ask me to explain lol, I respect them but I just dont have a intrest in owning one. The wifey has the car for the kids, mine would only be for in a pinch. I didnt really like the previous civic, in order for me to like the civic you have to go back to the 99-02 civic si's or before.

I would definitely go with the 135i, especially if you can get a discount on it. I'd also factor in the Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 and the BRZ/FR-S.

If I were you I wouldn't be so quick to discount the EVO. It outperforms the STI and the engine is bulletproof for aggressive modification. The technology in the EVO is nearly triple in class value as well as the DCT. Just some food for thought. I would at least drive one before making it final. The genesis coupe 3.8 and 2.0 both are great cars to consider as well.

I think because the BRZ is not turbo. It takes away from its mod potential making it too much of a downgrade based on the utter lack of power. Anyone consider a used IPL? Those are pretty nice and handle great.
