You don't need to buy anything all you need to do is remove a fuse.

Thanks for starting this thread, Baer. I just hit 15k miles on my 2009 370 and knew it would be a matter of time before I encountered a failure of the steering lock. I pulled my fuse this afternoon. Very simple job. Repped!

The only problem is my diminished lung capacity. You see, I was getting pretty good at holding my breath every time I hit the start button, waiting to see if the lock would fail to release

Bought this myself. Works great. Was not comfortable pulling the fuse and messing with the fusebox. Either method eliminates this useless box Nissan refuses to assist with unless you buy a GTR.

Better not mess with the gas cap either.

My thread

Wondering why you would spend money on something when the testimonial in this thread shows that there are no ill effects.

I know I've posted my fair share of OT comments, but c'mon guys. Y'all are just clogging up an otherwise excellent thread. All of you seem like nice, knowledgeable, 370Z-driving folks - please stop bickering in the Tech section. TIA

Edit: Please do not respond to this post and clutter things up even more. Like it, ignore it or PM me.

It's a wonderful feeling to never have to think about this stupid thing every time I step foot into my car. Hahaha. I love reading all of the comments from people who've done this.

And I like reading comments from people like you who have done this and haven't had a problem and forgot about it.

Default What if your car fails in the unlocked position?

I had my car towed to the dealer today because of this issue and just now happened across this thread. My car (manufactured 11/2008) has the lock light on, but I can still turn the steering wheel just fine. Will pulling the fuse work for this situation? I've got the car sitting at the dealership right now and I'm expecting them to call any minute with a diagnosis.

Thanks!

If the steering lock is in the unlock position and you pull the fuse it should start.
