ok so this solution did not work for me. i'm gonna leave it in the garage at work over the weekend as i have prior commitments out of town. luckily, i had planned to leave my car at home and just take a rental so at least for the weekend i have some wheels to drive around. hopefully, the dealership will give me something to drive when i send it to the shop.

Is this an issue with the 2012 Z. If it is I will be doing this right after work.

2012 don't have a steering lock,to check just turn your key on and if you hear a small motor sound then yes,my 2013 doesn't have one also you can just turn the wheel with the key off and if it doesn't lock then you don't have one.

Just did this! The hardest part was trying to get the fuse box back in place!

Well my steering lock went out on my 09. I was 100 miles from home and needless to say I was angry enough to smack the relay and lo and behold it popped into "ACC" and without a hesitation I pulled that fuse out. Thanks for the help!

Yeah I was quite lucky. I purchased this car a month ago and luckily I got the fix to work, $500 is a steep fix. Thanks again.

Would anyone happen to know if this, or the 'cut the wire' fix work on an Altima with an identical problem? Try as I might, I can seem to find no easy fixes for it, yet I find multiples for the 370Z.. Any help or a point in the right direction would be highly appreciated

I'm not sure if it will work on a Altima but I would pull the fuse before I cut the wire.
