Hummmm... I didn't notice this on my car. I will stare at the button light next time if it's unlit when I encounter the delay.

no abnormal delay for me.only piece of mind that i wont get stuck somewhere in the middle of the night out in no mans land if the lock was to go out with the fuse in.even if i had a delay with this mod, fuse is staying out !! :)

Very slight delay for me never more than a second or so. Just long enough for me to think:

"Hmm what's goi... Oh there we go. BRZ HUNTING TIME!!"

I know I know, I guess that last bit was a little unnecessary. I was considering a BRZ when I found my used 09 and now I love taunting them on the streets. (okay I'll take this to another thread)

p.s. I totally made the right choice!

Yesterday I got into the car and it wouldnt start with push button, then it lit up no key icon and blinked a few times, then it told me to place the fob into the slot. I stopped, waited a minute then depressed the clutch and car started fine.

Is this the sign of a steering wheel lock about to fail? I cant find the link with the info... Help Please!!!

Can be a sign of a weak battery in the FOB if it started fine once placed in the fobgina.

Thank you! Having an 09' scares the crap out of me with the steering wheel lock, I am under warranty until September then ill be SOL. Anyone know if the batteries are covered under warranty?

Once out of warranty I gotta buy the fix or follow this DIY

ChrisSlicks 07-09-2012 01:41 PM

The battery is just a run of the mill button battery that you can buy at a drug store, as a consumable I don't think it is covered by warranty.

kenchan 07-09-2012 02:09 PM

yah, as chris mentioned, it's a size D battery. ;)

i see in my notes my 09 takes CR2032 for the fob.
