Hey guys, pulled the fuse yesterday and although everything is working as it should I noticed something that's happening intermittently after pulling the fuse. When I get in the car and I haven't started it in a while I press the button and it seems to take about 5 seconds before starting up...the first time it happened I thought the button press hadn't registered and as I was reaching to press it again the car started.

It's important to note this doesn't happen all the time. If I turn the car off immediately after turning it on then turn it on again it starts up immediately. It seems like the computer is looking to unlock the steering but doesn't get a response immediately so it waits and starts up when it figures out there's nothing there. I don't get why it wouldn't happen all the time though in that case.

Anyway, I don't really have a big problem with this as long as I know that's how it is. Would rather deal with that then being stranded on the road. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this yet?

keep us posted, KingZee!

ive not done either (fuse or brown wire snip) yet since i have two working steering locks. :icon17:

This takes my suspicion that it's the fuse from 70% to 99%...anyone else?

Would be interesting to see if the wire harness causes the same issue or not although this would still be the better solution for me.

If it was a electrical issue it would have happened from the get go.

Instead of waiting to see if anyone else has a problem why don't you put the fuse back in.

Dia has been driving his around from day one without the fuse and he doesn't have a problem he would have called me.

It's not really an electrical problem it just lags on start sometimes...Spohn already said it happened to him too. I'm getting ready to leave town so no time to deal with the fuse right now. Plus I don't really wanna take the plastic crap apart again to get the box out. Somewhat of a pia. If no one else reports I'll put it back next week to see if the issue goes away.

It's very easy to do.

My Z sits for 3 or 4 days every week. Let's see if this effects me.......

wheee! 06-01-2012 03:37 PM

I've had the lag or delay too, but I find most of the time it is because I haven't quite got the clutch pushed right to the floor. Not a big issue either way. I would rather have a delayed start than no start!

A side benefit to this mod was discovered today! I was removing the front bumper to adjust my temp sensor position from behind the oil cooler and I had to turn the wheels to unscrew the wheel well screw.... all I had to do was turn the wheels by hand (I was on jackstands)! No starting the car or accessory position and cranking the wheel to move the tires! yay!

jetguy 06-01-2012 03:40 PM

No issues after sitting for 4 days!:-)

I would like to know if this delay issue has affected anyone with an auto transmission... might just be a manual glitch.
