Sorry to hear about your situation. I don't think Nissan is to blame for this problem; of course, whoever did the oil change. Reason why there wasn't any oil warning light because I assumed you were moving constantly all the way home. This makes the oil drain slower than if you were sitting still.
I had this problem once when my oil filter o-ring was damage. I drove on the highway for about 50 miles before I noticed a faint knocking noise in the engine. So, I pulled over, turned the ignition off, and popped the hood open. Looking in the bay, I could smell burnt, but there was no smoke. I walked back and turned the ignition on. Guess what, the oil engine started flashing; but the temperature never went over half. After that, I checked underneath the car and the oil was rushing out. That was my Honda. Anyways, the Nissan warning systems are probably like any other maker. Again, sorry to hear what happen to you and I hope everything is alright. That's a good point... don't even try to work your way down the road, just turn it off and get into neutral so you can coast to safe spot... that advice will save someone an engine... wish I had it 3 months ago !

That's unfortunate. I hope your motor is OK. A slow leak is the worst because its hard to notice.
I one time threaded my oil filter incorrectly and when I started the car it dumped oil all over my driveway. I obviously shut it off ASAP but cleaning up the spill and buying new oil wasn't fun. The motor was fine though thankfully, so hopefully everything will work out with your car as well. Good luck. Go 'Wings (its going be a hell of a comeback...hopefully)

A friend had a service there and got his truck back with the pollen filter hanging out and the engine cover flopping around in the engine bay. I don't get it myself!!

Man that is such BS on what happened to you! That's why I rather do work on my Z myself. I understand free labor is a good thing, but the work quality sometimes is garbage.

On the positive side, the dealer will be here in the morning to pick up the car to take back to the dealer. Already discussed with them the need for complete cleaning of the under carriage once the problem is fixed. For those of you wondering, I waited about 2 hrs and then checked the oil level. Half way between the dots. Thats good news let me tell it. That means that the filter isnt seated all the way. Beats the hell out of a stripped out plug. None the less, it tells me that I didnt run it low enough to cause internal damage.

Sometimes, yes. When I got there today, I had the only car in the service bay. 6 guys sitting around talking about how shitty the GT-R is, and one guy changing my oil. Not multi-tasked at all.

A little oil goes a long way on a garage floor. So it comes across looking like everything in the engine has drained out onto the garage floor. But as you said in reality only about 1/2 a quart has drained out. And that was good. BTW make sure you have the dealer send someone out to clean your garage for you also and to your spec's.
