I don't use a dealer for any servicing at all, not even the free lifetime oil changes that came with my purchase. You can see where "free" got NotmyGTR...

I will say, that a few years ago some fancy chromed oil filters came out for the Honda Goldwing Motorcycle. These resulted in major engine faiures and were NOT covered under warranty (I worked for the Honda M/C division at the time). Any faiure of the oil system or related parts with an aftermarket filter on the vehicle would certainly be reasons for denial. That said, oiling faiures are pretty few and far between..I do not use the Nissan filter.

Honda is pretty bad about MC warranties.

That said, that incident you describe should have resulted in a class action lawsuit, where the owners got warranty repairs, and lawyers made a lot of money...

Bad? That was hardly the case in the 21 years I worked for them. Most warranty denials were clear cut abuse (very prevalent with the ATV's)

Class action? Warranty? It was a bad part from an aftermarket supplier who sourced them from China. Honda did, in fact, good faith a few, but ultimately it was not their responsibility. They did not sell the part. Luckily they were pulled out of the parts channel pretty quickly averting a real disaster (given how GW riders like chrome stuff!)

Default Dealer visit

Sorry this is posted late, duty calls. None the less I went to the dealer this afternoon to discuss the weekends events. I almost felt like I was in High School again or something. When I arrived the repair/service manager was calling the mechanics in his office one by one to find out what was done to my car and who did it. When the last guy was finished, he called me in his office. Big Huge Brass ones he must have, he proceeded to tell me he wanted me to explain every thing that went on from Friday until this afternoon concerning my car. Now, Im a patient person for about ....... half a second, then I want to go across this dudes desk. After telling him that Im not his son, or he doesnt sign my paycheck so dont try treating me like one of your part time employees that needs a job I proceeded to tell him that his mechanics screwed the pooch on my oil change, charged me for a Mobile 1 filter but installed an OEM filter.........and it leaked. Then tried changing the filter again and again and again, using OEM and they all leaked. Finally put what I paid for on the car, and no more leak. Then I handed him my maintenance booklet and had him document what was done, what was installed, and why it was installed. All this ending of course with his signature and business stamp. Bingo, now my azz is covered in the event of failure in the future. Kinda suprised he put his name in black and white so easily. But he did change his persona quite a bit after he asked what I did for a living.

As for the follow up, they are going to take another 370 they have on the lot and replace the oil/filter just to see if they have the same problem with this particular batch of filters. He then told me that he would like to bring my car back in and try using another genuine nissan filter on my car........uhhhh not gonna happen. I dont think he liked the part where I told him that he can keep the sh!tty paper internal filter for his own personal use before I put it on my car ever again. But, the customer is always right....so they say. Beyond that I am supposed to get copies of testing procedures that they carry out on the dealer owned 370 concerning the filter issue. He did not confirm or deny the fact that if the filters they have on hand dont leak on another 370, than something is obviously wrong with my car and they will replace it. I didnt spend 35K for part brand new/part P.O.S.

Default Right and wrong

Just believe in getting what I pay for. And it will be a cold day in hell before I let somebody talk to me like a two year old that broke a lamp.

I think the front lift arm is just being blocked by the rear one. Like when the car fell forward the front arm probably swung back. This pic was/is on my hard drive. Can't exactly remember where I got it. I vaguely remember something about this Z going in for some recall work that required the entire rear axle to be removed, which of course changed the weight distribution.

If the above is true, you need to RUN not walk to another dealer ASAP for your service work!!!!!!!!!!! At all dealerships the Service Advisor assigns the work to be done and the service tech then time stamps your work order. That's the way that the Tech gets paid............... So for the Service manager to make it look like HE DON'T KNOW who did it is BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was nothing but a DOG & PONY Show for your benefit................ It appears they lack the skill, competence, or character expected of a member of a highly trained profession. You need to contact Nissan North America about this dealers service departments inability to do a simple oil change and their attempt to cover up their lack of professionalism.
