Waxing a new car

Been reading up on this and it seems as waxing a brand new car is okay. Back in the days 20 years ago it seems that It may have been true. Is this true?

:iagree: It used to be you would have wanted to wait about 6 months before waxing, to give the paint ample time to cure. Not true any more.

k20z3 05-20-2012 03:48 PM

Hey buddy was just asking if it's okay to wax my new car. Ce

k20k3 landed himself in my ignore list.

Confusing posts, but yes it's fine. Check out Zaino if you're open to a good product.

kenchan 05-20-2012 05:22 PM

no but yes to polymer, just not zaino due to plastic shine.

Hey there..I am a newbie, but I think you have to understand his humor..

To me, he is funny as Heck, but it took me a while to get it...

I think he is just jerking your chain..But I cannot say what is in someone's mind.

But he is rudely funny.. I used to think...."Did he just say that " ? But he makes me laugh every time..

So don't take it personal...Again .02 cents from a newbie.

Damn, I am now on his Ignore list too..

i polished my Mom's new car last night. It brings out the sparkly in the grey paint. . .

MacLean 05-21-2012 01:39 AM

I say wax the car ASAP once you get it.

Plastic shine? Not mine. Just a beautiful shine.

I was always told 6 months, but that is probably just opinion based. The fact is, you always waited a while with a new car before you waxed it. I think I am old enough also -- born in 1960. :icon17:

Cmike2780 05-21-2012 08:40 AM

lolz @ kenchan.

@k20z3, you should probably clean it off with a clay bar before applying wax. You'd be surprised how much crap and rail dust gets on the paint while being transported. I'd personally stick to a high quality carnuba. I've used Adam's Americana or Swissvax, both excellent products. The Swissvax was a bit pricey, but a tub goes a long way.
