hey steve- so do we call you a re-newb? :icon17:

i think you'll like the Z (again). :p

I would recoup some of that impulsiveness money you lost and get as nice used 2009 370Z and call it good!

The Porsche are very nice, but go with the Z. The reason it is cheaper & less of a headache down the road. Your insurance, maintenance & the price of the car is considerably less with the Z. If you are not worried about money, then go with the Porsche, but get the extended warranty FOR SURE. Like the saying goes if you can afford a high-end car, then you can afford all the other BS (insurance, gas, maintenance, tires & etc). If you cannot really afford the car & more or less the other essentials, then forget it.

Z (new or used) + supercharger (GTM or Stillen) = win

It really depends on what you're after. As much as I like the 370Z, I wouldn't buy the same car again if you were not really happy with it in the past. There are plenty of options @ $40k. I'd sooner try out other cars I haven't driven yet. BMW, Audi, Evo, Sti, 'stang, etc, etc....

At 4 cars in 3 years I'm sure you lost $15k+payments. At least... sounds to me like you should get a used car for $25k and you will level out some of what you lost. But that's just an opinion.

As far as what you should do if I didn't know how financially wreckless you are...
I would say its easier to just get a Z than those other cars. German cars come with higher maintenece bills, higher insurance and higher price tag.

The 2012 have oil coolers rated for aggressive street. Track is another issue. 2010-12 models have been improving minor details.
2010 brought heated mirrors, air filter, ecu whine tsb, trunk issue tonneau cover brackets standard, better-brighter NAV screen, Nismo R tune pad optionand steering lock issue.
2011 brought upgraded springs and dampers for less bumpy ride, a little more sound deadening to reduce nvh. Minor engine tweaking to reduce harshness, Homelink/backup camera OEM option on base & non nav touring models,Nismo S tune pad option and improved paint quality.
2012 brought the oil cooler and base no price increase from 2011 except on sport pkg and nav.

2013 brings a new front fascia, completely new shock upgrade further increasing handling and ride compliance, new base and sport wheels. Further tweaking for nvh reduction Nismo will get touring pkg stereo and add 2 speakers to system for richer sound quality, red reflector instead of blackout foglight plate and new pricing.

This paragraph is a guess...
Though it hasn't been written by anyone, I imagine there will be some new nav upgrades and possibly some type of handling technology. Just because many of the new nissans in the line-up are getting drastic tech upgrades. I don't think the Z will get drastic tech upgrades, but maybe just a taste to get an idea of what's in store for next gen???

Does anyone have a link to this tsb?

If you can't find it here in the Z forum? You might want to check the infiniti forum because they were the first to start getting the whine addressed by the dealer.

That's because it was added in 2012 models.

AS an Investor and Money Manager, my brain is fried by this thread...

No more to say other than enjoy whatever you buy...Even if it is for a year...

I too am an impulse car buyer but I like to buy the end of the year deals. I bought a g37 coupe that way and then my current ride, a 370 roadster ... Both for around 8 grand off sticker. I also recently had an older Boxster but was scared of the maintenance costs so sold it... Also tried a Miata, gto, 350z, g35 coupe, etc. anyway like others said you are throwing a lot of money down the drain but if you can afford it you might as well try a few others too. How about the new brz/frs? Get something simple and cheap as someone else said to "reset" your expectations in cars. Especially after that grand sport! How about like an 07 350z or rx8... You could probably pick up a very nice example of one of those for around 10 or 12 grand... About the sales tax on a 911!! Just an idea. Or even a 5 yr old Boxster or cayman for like 20 grand? Whatever you decide to do, enjoy the ride!

EDIT: Found the answer.

Sound deadening to reduce nvh? What is nvh?
