Default Is a dealership allowed to turn you away?

I live in the middle-east and bought a US-spec imported Z.

When i went to the authorized Nissan dealership to book a service appointment, I was turned away and informed that they do not work onUS-spec vehicles.

Luckily, another authorized dealer will take the car in, but is located about 2 hours away in another city.

My question is, is this kind of thing allowed? Should i contact Nissan HQ?

Thanks

Dealers are indivually owned and operated and can choose to turn people away as they see fit. Contacting Nissan won't do much, even if they convinced the dealer to look at the vehicle..would you really want a establishment that didn't want to work on it who now has had it's toe stepped on? Better to go to the dealer who will work with you

You will probably be question by Nissan about the us spec Z. And get flagged for no warranty. I wouldn't open pandoras box, and go elsewhere.

unless it's a waranty repair, why not have a local speed shop help you with your maintenance work?

Try other places and see what happens. Contacting Nissan might actually hurt your cause possibly.

I would tread lightly & think twice about making any calls.

Thanks for the replies.
I contacted the other dealer in another city, and even they will not do anything more than change oil and filter. I'm better off finding an independent auto shop and just work with them.

That sucks, I don't know the laws there but here a vehicle importer is required to honor the manufacturers warranty unless it is agreed to be waived before hand. I read up on this when I was still interested in importing a non us spec car. A dealer here as an authorized reseller cannot deny a warranty work just because.

What work are you looking to get done? Who did the importing, did they agree to a service contract/warranty at the time of sale? If you have nothing, no Nissan dealer will help you, to lose you might as well call Nissan.

Sorry to hear something so easy has become so hard. Are we not being told we are now living in a global market/economy? Someone must have forgotten to tell the automotive world. I would not allow a non dealer to work on the car. That just might VOID any remaining factory warranty. The middle east is so complicated you can't even get a Nissan serviced at a Nissan dealership.
