Traded in my 09Z for a 2012Z

So ..... I did what I most not wanted to do, I traded my 09Z for the 2012Z. I went to the Nissan dealer yesterday with my sister in law and father in law as she was looking to get into a new Altima. I was just tagging along as my father in law asked me too.

So I was sitting down and the sales rep who was selling the Altima saw me looking at the Nismo and the touring with sport package. He got another sales rep to bring them out of the showroom and had me take a test drive. I took a drive on both with another sales rep that was in training. By the time I knew it, I had signed the deal. I was really waiting for the new model but I will just trade this one in if I really like the new body if it does change. I got home and told my wife, she diagnosed me with impulsive disorder since I do this a lot with cars and electronics.

I do have a questions does the 2012 come with that oil cooler?

reunited 04-29-2012 03:39 PM

Yes ... it has a small oil cooler. Not big enough for track use but supposedly an improvement for spirited road driving in warm weather over previous model years

LakeShow 04-29-2012 04:13 PM

Haha that's funny. What did you get the Nismo or the Touring sport? I know there's no actual difference between the 09 vs 12 but could you say you feel a difference?

Thechidz 04-29-2012 04:38 PM

Did you finance with the 0% deal at all? I was tempted but just cant swing it right now we're looking to buy a house

tonybui 04-29-2012 04:40 PM

What's the big difference that made u decided to switch to the same car?

Compdoc777 04-29-2012 04:52 PM

Yeah I am on this one too. Why? For less than you paid you could have purchased the lighted door plates $145 and a better cooler for $500. A bottle of new car $3.00. Heck on that note a new set of $1400 sticky tires and either had a custom stereo and exhaust, intake...

I am sure you probably went up about $5000-10k depending what you bought sport or Nismo and lost about 4k on your old unit for the exact same car. And on that you could have had twin turbo setup.

Now if you purchased I Nismo I could see a little, but if it was sport for sport? Seriously?

Yes that would be defined as impulsive compuslive disorder

I bet that sales guy was like Steak and lobster tonight bitcheass!:yum:

MacLean 04-29-2012 04:53 PM

Congrats!!!! So which model did you get & did you get the 0% interest.

NYBladeZ 04-29-2012 05:20 PM

So you get yourself into making car payments for a longer period of time on the same or damn near close to the same car you had? Man they gotcha...

Z-Girl 12 04-29-2012 05:22 PM

Really? Why? Which did you get?

axio 04-29-2012 06:11 PM

LOL I guess at least you don't have to worry about the steering lock failure issue...

:icon18::rofl2: I agree

Thechidz 04-29-2012 06:41 PM

hey guys lets not be so hard on him. I can think of a few reasons to upgrade if you get a good enough deal plus the 0% financing

1. steering wheel lock
2. factory back up camera
3. oil cooler
4. longer factory warranty

plus who knows maybe he upgraded from stock to sport or touring etc. let him enjoy his car

SPOHN 04-29-2012 06:57 PM

Is there post to be any chnages to the 2013 Nismo?

There is, but very minor..... Might as well get the '12 & get the 0% interest now.

Sound argument.

Still, something seems off. You already have a Z, why not wait for the 2013? Unless you got a really good deal I don't see how it was worth it.

sonic370 04-29-2012 07:09 PM

since he hasn't responded back to any of the other post he must really have a bad case of buyers remorse.

Nor the engine oil consumption issue.

Different stereo, painted brake calipers and a couple other small things. From what I've researched and been told, there won't be any major changes.

JWMotoring 04-29-2012 08:48 PM

Congrats on the 12

An '09 for a '12? Did you buy the first one new? Seems like an odd decision. Welcome to 5 more years of car payments.

And you complain when others troll your new car purchase thread? :bowrofl:

OP congrats.. My suggestion is you do a bit more research next time though!

I find the oil cooler to be good for just about anything you can do on a regular road. I've beat on this thing pretty hard.

Pauly 04-30-2012 08:53 AM

they put hypnosis dust in the air ducts at stealerships.
me? 7 new vehicles in 8 years. and that is not including what i bought my wife. they love me

TongMan 04-30-2012 09:02 AM

clap...clap...clap...

That salesman must be superbly persuasive to make a current 370z owner trade their 370z for another 370z. Good job salesman!!

I feel bad for the OP though, losing money and driving home in the same car. FAIL.

kidkotic2001 04-30-2012 09:19 AM

Sorry for taking to long to respond

I took the Touring with sport package since I only had the Touring before. I loved the Nismo at least the power but I did not like that there was really no leather interior, no Navi, heated seats which my wife loves. It was missing to many things that I already had.

I do not feel buyers remorse, in my entire life I have only owned one car (1999 Eclipse GSX). After that I have never owned a vehicle.

I did take the 0 interest and I was not upside down on my 09 Touring with no sport package. This was part of my agreement with the sales rep, I told him that I could not be upside down on my current car.

I just looked at it as I wont have to deal with the lock issue, I have navigation, I have the rays rims, and the color that I really wanted from the start.

spearfish25 04-30-2012 09:21 AM

If the new car 'fixes' some shortcomings of the previous, and it's the car you want...I understand. I wouldn't mind starting fresh again.

kidkotic2001 04-30-2012 09:22 AM

I lost no money in my deal I am still paying the same a month and got Zero percent interest.

I agree with this.

kenchan 04-30-2012 09:23 AM

if you're happy with your new car then i think it's

car value is like market price. if it makes sense to you, it's definitely worth it. :D

Hithere 04-30-2012 09:28 AM

Congrats dude! What's the point of working hard, if you can't enjoy it! Good for you. Now enjoy it!

I haven't really got many trolls on my thread and it still doesn't justify getting the same car. I guess if the OP is happy then by all means, its not something 99% of us would do. I can related to driving a car that really makes you feel good and happy :tiphat:.

flashburn 04-30-2012 10:53 AM

I thought about doing this briefly, but it would of been for a manual from an automatic. Decided to go a different route, and I'll probably come back for the next Z, depending on its performance.

Maybe there was problems with his Z or he had problems with it so he wanted to start fresh
