I think the OP overpaid for the Sport Package. Starting another $40k loan is a bad idea since you were probably more than half way through your previous loan.

I've got a poll question based on this thread.

HOW MANY WOULD REPURCHASE A 370Z IF SOMETHING HAPPENED TO IT?

The biggest difference between the 09 and 11 is the Z can absorb bumps better. 2012 they added the cooler. Dampening was improved in 2011 as well as some sound deadening was added. In 2010 they added the hvac air filters and better screen for nav and all Z's added a tonneau cover bracket in case you want to order the cover.
Every year they make small changes on the Z..

I already did. Mine was totaled. It was an 09. 4 and a half months later I was in an 11.

1. steering wheel lock
2. factory back up camera
3. oil cooler
4. longer factory warranty

plus who knows maybe he upgraded from stock to sport or touring etc. let him enjoy his car

It will always cost you. You might have had another year or two to pay off your car ('09 Z), but now you have four to six years to pay off your new car ('12 Z). The insurance might have went up a couple of dollars since it is a new car. On the bright side at least you are not paying more money for your monthly car payment. In end as long as you are happy with what you have & you are happy with the monthly payments that is all that matters. You bought the car, so what we really think is irrelevant.

BrianMSmith 04-30-2012 08:33 PM

hmmm, interesting choice for a car upgrade; same exact thing, less miles, more money. My 09 Z has 40k miles and it's like new, while my bank account for GTR, 2013 Viper, or 2012 Z06 is growing fast. Oh, that will be a tough decision, but I'm leaning GTR for it's daily driver quality.

kidkotic2001 04-30-2012 09:21 PM

I will post some pics of it when I get home from work.

Amazing! And how do you figure that? Not hating, glad you're happy. Me...saving for something better while enjoying the Z.

I did not loose anything, I was not going to own this car as I would have traded it in for a 2013z or another car some point this year.

OP, congrats on the new whip. I know there's a huge weight on the nutsack right now but it should ease once the haters go to sleep.

So much hate in the blood here. Listen to this while you read these posts. Lol

You definitely lost money. You loose money on trade in, your new vehicle depreciated several thousand when you drove it off the lot. Your monthly payments may not have changed but that is an old tactic sales men use. Makes you feel as if you are paying the same. This deal will cost you a lot of money when all the payments are made and its all in the books.

With that said if you are happy with it then congrats!

Like any of us on here really NEED a 2 seat sport car to begin with???? Its an ego purchase. All of us... no exceptions. We may like the sport of driving but that sport alone is 90% ego. Buying this type of car is a money loss. We could have all bought a certified used altima and got more functionality and warranty. But some of us say" there's nothing like buying new" blah blah blah. That's alotta smoke. New or used a car is the same if it comes with warranty. When you pick leather in any car. You lose money. Nav, you lose money. The depreciation rate is usually similar throught a lineup so u lose the same amount of money.

If it was all about saving cash why aren't all of you driving 2.0 gencoupes. They can be had for 25kotd brand new with a lil hustle to your game??? All you guys are doing is passing judgement because a sports car is no investment. Or any car for that matter. If we aren't buying nissan versa's to get around? We are just buying what we like. USUALLY BUYING WHAT WE LIKE WASTES MONEY. Cuz a decently equipped versa can be had for 15kotd and it will get us around to where we need to go.

:iagree: In reality it is can you get from point A to point B w/o any problems or worries. A lot of us are very fortune & lucky to be able to afford & drive what we have. I say about 90-99% of the things we buy are overrated & a waste of money, but we still buy them. Why is this? B/c we can & it makes us happy & we feel better about ourselves. Yeah we might regret what we purchased here & there, but we live on & it brings a smile to our faces.

I agree with the previous comments, we drive the Z and other similar sports cars for our own self gratification first and foremost. Look, I don't think people are hating, its just not something you see done often and it goes against all common sense.

Technically, buying a sports car goes against common sense.

1. Insurance is usually 30%-50% higher
2. Uses up to 30% more gas.
3. Usually has few accomodations or features for proper daily usability.
4. Makes you a target for theft like the rims on our Z's
5. Are generally between 30% and 100% more expensive to purchase over basic transportation.

We lost common sense the moment we considered owning a sports car. So none of us can really justify it more than just being a want and nothing more.

nothing's wrong with wanting something just for pleasure if you deserve it, i think.

I agree. It is what makes life worth living. I do not want to be like everybody else. I do not even want everybody to want to be me either. Yuck.

Tino2fasT 05-01-2012 06:22 PM

This is my take on this guys... Common sense first of all, is NOT that common. I bought my Z because since the age of ten, i have always wanted a "Datsun" Z-car and a Corvette "Stingray". I was born in 1963, and grew up in North Carolina. I have SEEN Muscle cars in thier "heyday" doing everything from running moonshine to Saturday Night Drag racing. I was in the Marine Corp at 18 years old and in Okinawa Japan in 1983, watching those guys racing and drifting RX-3's and 240Z's in the warehouse districts BEFORE it was even known as drifing, lol.

I do NOT have any kids (Biological, anyway) and at the age of 44-45 I decided that I was either going to get a NEW Z or a NEW Corvette, (which I have ALWAYS wanted) I had the money from being disciplined enough to SAVE my money, and being disciplined enough in life to have decent credit so buying a Sports Car for me was not an "Impulse" buy, or me out to buy it "Because I could"... I bought my car because I deserved it. It was not an "Ego" thing for me and was NOT an Impractical buy as I dont need a carseat (although I have had one in it for my Godson, and the Z IS equipped to accept the Infant carseat security cables and straps! It even knows NOT to deploy the passenger side airbag until a certain weight is loaded in that seat..... lol!)

My point is this, there are a few points that people have stated that i could debate, but something that I have learned in life is that when you find a group of people that you have come to surround yourself with because of a definite COMMON interest, it will pay off NOT to make waves, especially about trivial points. :tiphat:

Ok, cool I think...

We're just talking about a $30k sports car, right? In reality it isn't much more than a loaded Honda Accord .
