Yeah OP, if mechanically all is good then I say just take it easy. I know that new tires have a coating that cause them initially to be very slippery

Yeah OP, if mechanically all is good then I say just take it easy. I know that new tires have a coating that cause them initially to be very slippery but that's not the case here. My advice, save for some better tires, the RE05's are good not great, I too have had the back end come flying out on me on cool summer nights while redlining the lower gears with VDC off. I'm not knocking your level of experience but the Z can quickly become a tail happy car with VDC off and cool conditions, a new driver or someone who hasn't taken the time to get a feel for the car will get in trouble. I know its not the funnest car to drive around normally, damn torque doesn't peak till ~4700 but protect your car, yourself and your long term investment, keep VDC on and drive safe.

You really have to learn how to launch the car..
I started driving manual transmissions in the 1970"s... You learn to "haze the tires" off the line..Using the throttle and the clutch to get off the line.. Mashing the throttle will only get the results that you have been getting , wheel spin or Traction Lights blinking.. I have won and lost races in the first 100 feet...If I am looking out my passenger window to see ahead, I know I gave it too much throttle..

This thread (doesn't know how to properly work the clutch, drives with VDC OFF, gets slippage at high RPMS IN EVERY GEAR) coupled with the thread he initiated (now locked) regarding oil overheating, leads me to remember Ralph Waldo Emerson's admonition, "Children should not play with sharp edged tools." and Val Kilmer's in Top Gun, "You are dangerous"
My advice to you, get some much needed maturity/knowledge and learn to properly drive a manual before you rip your car's clutch/tranny to shreds, or before you kill someone or yourself as you are learning how to do so while driving hyper-aggressively at the same time. |
