Well the owner's manual says 1,200 miles & not to pass 4k rpms & something about no excessive acceleration & no constant speeds & something about no hard braking.

i dunno what the others have said but i have no issues with the re050's unless i'm gonna peel out while the tires are still cold. otherwise if i give at least 5 minutes on the road to get some heat into the tires (even in 30F weather), even under powershifting, there may be some very slight squirrelly-ness (pretty much no spin if its relatively warm out) between shifts but completely controllable with minor corrections on the steering wheel.
and oh yeah, fuk vdc.

Have you checked the tire pressure? When i got my car i never checked it until i was at the strip and did a few runs. The dealership set my pressure to 47psi.

When Nissan delivers cars to dealers, the tires are set close to 50 psi to avoid flat spots during storage. Many vehicles are not corrected before being delivered to customers. I personally checked his tire pressure and corrected it before delivery!

Joe I was actually reading the manual and the gas tank door is supposed to lock when away from the car without the keyfob, just like the driver and passenger doors. Mine isn't quite working that way. What can we do about that ?

If you're rough in 1st, jerk the car in between shifts, hit a bump or pot hole, etc., the slip lights will light up. It just means there is enough differential in speed of the wheels to trip the indicator, so it doesn't necessarily mean you're losing traction. When that happens, the car will try to correct itself by cutting power and apply braking where necessary.

stop "popping" the clutch... if that's what you're doing, then try practicing clutch releases on a dirt road... once you can do it right there, you'll be fine on pavement |

You have VDC off. You are saying you are getting wheel slip and chirping.... Are you mashing the pedal and dropping the clutch? Without a doubt the tires, even brand new will slip if you launch at high RPM. What RPM are you launching at? Are you mashing the pedal between shifts? Is your friends A4 an auto? |

Have you ever driven manual before? Have you ever launched in a manual? If you 'pedal to the metal' in any car and drop the clutch, your very likely to spin the wheels. The 370z has a lot of power, so trying to put 'everything she's got' to the floor from a standstill, the wheels are going to spin. I'm no expert on launching, but you need to find the sweet spot where you can put max power to floor with minimal wheel spin and minimal clutch slip. Take a look here: Best RPM to Launch at for 1/4 MT? The same generally goes for shift through the gear box. You're going to get wheel chirp if you powershifting through the box. Although I'm not too sure about 5th-6th gear wheel chirping.... I;ve never been to 150+mph or what ever. As for your friend in the A4. Auto vs Manual. Your car can beat him. But your shifting probably needs some work (i'm not trying to be a ****.) There's a lot of skill required to get an MT to top perform. |
