need some help
so i was driving in the rain lastnight and for some reason i was hydroplaining going only 45mph on the freeway and my 370 locked up and spun me out and caused me to crash into the mountian does anyone know why that would happen ? i noticed that my car was wobbling around the freeway thats when i decided to go only 45 but that didnt help at all i ended up spinning out and crashing my entire rear end is messed up

you can hydroplane at speeds > 25 mph, so...
what kind of tires do you have? edit: > 35 mph thumb text fail |
tread life on tires? vdc on or off?
|
Locked up?
Did you jamb on the brakes when you noticed something wasnt right or just ease of the gas to regain traction? If you were only going 45 then most likely cause of hydroplaning would be really worn or really crappy tires. Glad tto hear you are ok (assuming you are ok since you are on a forum right after crashing into a mountain) |
same thing happened to xchrisx i have falken tires and got 70 in heavey rain on crappy highways... never had any issue.. i drive a touring sport with auto

Bad tire tread I'm sure. OP, check the inside of the tires for camber wear.

Yep, like everyone said... tires. Also, has your car been in any accidents prior to this one? My 350z was in a right rear quarter panel accident and after I got it from the body shop I thought all was fine, but whenever I drove on the highway (especially in the rain) I always felt uneasy about the car spinning out. I thought it was because my car was lowered. Long story short, I went to get the car aligned and the mechanic told me I had a bent tension rod or camber arm (not sure which) and went back to the fu*king body shop and they fixed the issue that they FAILED to fix.
Problem solved. |
Roads are very slick in the rain, if in fact it has NOT rained in a while. The grease and oil builds up and comes to the surface as the water penetrates the highway. Wide tires are prone to hydroplaning too. Gets worse with worn tread. Riding a motorcycle makes you much more aware of this, as i have learned from wadding a few bikes.

Yes on crappy tires. I did 120mph in pouring rain with good tires, no problemo
|
yah, crappy tires maybe incorrect psi.. that will do it.
for rain driving, i recommend S04's. they are FANTASTIC in dry and wet. |
