Yeah true.....so very true. I see where your coming from, but I wouldn't think that they would redline through every gear if at all. They may get on it, but hopefully not abuse it. That is why if you thought that way, then you would baby her until you reached 1,200 miles, or until you felt comfortable to open her up. I wouldn't question the 10, 28, or 44 miles that are on it, but the big mileage (XXXX) on it would be more questionable on how she was driven & what was done on the effen road.

am i the only one who doesnt get all excited about the sport package? I dont like the 19 inch wheels at all, not a big fan of the spoiler, i heard the Bose speakers are nothing special and the bluetooth sucks, Brakes are better and LSD is useless for the most part.

Let's face it, the car is reliable and someone mashing in it won't necessarily make or break the car. It will have had an inherent issue from the factory. Just stating how real life works. |

I personally <3 the 19's but I don't plan on changing the base rims to anything. Never was my intention before I bought the car. |

I would get the '09 personally. There is nothing on the new car that makes it worth the $10,000 more you'll be paying.
Spend the $600 (approx)total for a decent oil cooler and install, and you'll only really need it if you spend a lot of time driving it hard or put it on the track. I'm not sure what the issue is with the steering wheel lock as I have an '09 and have had no issues with the steering wheel in any way. Spend the $1200 on a full detail service (not the crappy dealer service!) that finishes with a high quality sealant. The 3,000 miles on the car tells me one thing, it's broken in! Be on the safe side and get the carfax report on it first.

+1, and its probably more loss in value than that. I told myself that from now own I'm buying "new used" and let that other guy take that big hit!

Yes getting a used car is obviously cheaper than buying a new one. Some people may or may not like buying a used car. At the end of the day it is what you feel more comfortable doing & what you really want & it is your money & not any of ours. Everyone is going to have their own opinions, but the question you need to ask yourself is what do you want to-do.

I decided to look at this from a different angle. I'm buying the z for fun not to make money on it, as all cars are depreciating, but my personality won't allow me to dismiss the financial factor. Also, I am not modifying the car much and I don't race.
...I assumed today that I bought the car 3 years ago. If I bought a 3 year old z it would have been the 2006 350z, touring, wheels, etc the retail value today would be around $15,300 and if I bought a new 2009 then the retail value today would be around 27,100. Both assuming 36,000 miles. If I paid 30,000 for the 2006 then I would have lost 14,700 and if I paid $43,000 for the 2009 then I would have lost 15,900...a difference of $1,200. The $1,200 easily accounts for the nav, oil cooler, other small features and the peace of mind about the new car. I know that this isn't an apples for apples comparison, but it's as close as I can get to a comparison. Also, it is using Edmunds numbers which I don't think are perfect, but are a good guide. FYI - If I buy the 2009 z I would pay cash. If I buy the 2012 z I would put some down and finance the rest at 0% (why not, free money!!). The above scenario does not even consider the interest (as small as it would be) on keeping the 30k cash, that I would have paid outright for the used vehicle, in the bank and making payments out of it. ...Just a thought. |
