Anyone else have a 370Z Lemon?
I bought my Z new in September 2011 and it is going back for service for the fifth time next week. The car have been in and out of the shop for over 45 days all due to electrical problems. I am working with Nissan, but they refuse to honor the Lemon law and said they would not replace the car or refund my money. Nissan insists that I keep taking the car back for repairs. They replaced the rear camera in the mirror which blew out the fuse block and controller but now they cannot fix the key indicator light so back to the shop it goes.
I don't want to pay the expense of hiring an attorney, but that may be my only option. The BBB has been NO help at all. Any suggestions or comments? Thanks. |

They have to abide by the lemon laws in your state. Read it carefully and make sure it applies to you completely. If it does and they do not want to cooperate take it to your state attorney general. Ive read of people suing and being compensated for their time and trouble. I'm sure they would want to avoid this,

Sorry to hear about your problems. Keep firm, keep contacting the BBB, don't going up the chain of command. Just because service rep A cant authorize the refund or replacement doesn't mean you have to settle. Keep every documented receipt make sure everything is makes on them. You don't want to rely on the dealer telling the truth about how much service was performed.

not sure about KY but in NC your car needs to be in the shop 75% of the first year of ownership for it to qualify as a lemon. find out your states law, the dealer must abide by it. my brother had a ford focus replaced under the lemon law and ended up in the better. ford replaced his base focus with the sony special edition one.

I would research carefully what constitutes a Lemon in you're state.
If it meets the criteria? Get some free legal aid that specializes in these types of Lawsuits, And if your situation meets the Lemon criteria? Hire a Lawyer. The other options are to take the hit and sell it or Keep it and just deal with it and hope it will eventually get sorted out as they seem to be trying under warranty at least. |

The BBB is pretty much useless. Its a Member organization that collects dues and they cant enforce rulings they just give ratings. Many businesses dont care about the BBB or what they have to say. Ive worked for a company that had a customer use the BBB to blackmail money from us. Pay me extra money(money they weren't entitled to or spent) or else is what it came down to. Pure BS

hope this helps Kentucky: Attorney General Jack Conway - Lemon laws
apparently it has to be unable to use for 30 days or more and the dealer has 4 attempts to correct it. if you say its been up there 5 times, hopefully they have had it for over 30 days. Last edited by USMCASA; 04-21-2012 at 01:18 PM. |

If your state is like Arizona. The 3-4 times it has to go back on for must be for the same exact issue.... Electrical might be to general of an issue. Like 4 times for the backup camera.

Exactly... the lemon may be the camera? Not the car. And if its seperate electrical issues? Then they would have to keep diagnosing it until there are enough to justify it. Even then, an ecu, fuses etc may be swapped before calling the car a lemon. Electrical is a tough thing to lemon out over 4 seperate issues.

KY Lemon law states the manufacturer is to issue a refund or offer a replacement if the car is out of service for 30 days OR in for repairs for the same issue four time and the car has less than 12,000 miles or own for less than 12 months. I met all the criteria. Car is going back this Friday for the fifth time and it has been 48 days.
Nissan has flat out said they would not refund or replace the car. I am left with living with it or hiring a lawyer. Needless to say I am not happy with Nissan. |

That sucks and is very frustrating... have you attempted to contact Nissan Corporate yet? Sometimes a detailed letter helps put forth your intentions and displeasure. Don't forget, these dealerships get compensated for working on your car under warranty. It might be in their best interest to continue repairing problems but not so much of a good deal for corporate headquarters.
