Then please just as a for future reference, use the search feature, or just take a peek in the Engine section of the forum at the hundreds of Oil threads that will answer your question completely.

sounds good

i took a look at this thread:

DIY: Nissan 370Z Oil change (AK370Z way) Pictures inside

the nissan dealer recommended changing the oil filter as well. should i do that and is there anything else? my mate wants to come see the car but i'm afraid to drive even low revs after this episode.

Read your manual, too. It tells you all of the recommended maintenance

don't tell Nissan about any oil additives you use; if something goes wrong with the engine, they could blame it on that if they wanted to.

i'm not sure, i think i might have seen it so i'll have a look thanks

very keen to take the car for a drive (have things to do etc) my only concern now is what to do between now and getting the oil changed. should i not drive at all, or just not drive at high revs (i'm assuming the accumulation takes time)?

The internet is good but its also very very bad. Its easy to get all worked up over nothing over *any* topic there is a forum for

Relax. Take a breath. The car is not ruined. As a few posters have stated, you can just drive the car change the oil after 5K if you like. If you want more peace of mind, just drop the oil tomorrow at any local mechanic/shop and have them put in 5 quarts of 5/30 regular oil. There is no need to wait 2 weeks was my point.

If you want to run synthetic oil in your car all the time, or Nissan ester oil, that is your choice but there are tons of oil threads here that you can read up on.

More important then what brand oil you run is the simple fact that you change it at regular intervals. I follow the factory schedule while under warranty, and off warranty I use synthetic with a more reasonable extended service interval backed up by analysis results of the oil.

The Z's schedule is very conservative.

i spent money on the stupid nulon to begin with, but if necessary i'd prefer to spend the money and fix the problem as best i can

also what petrol should i be using? premium 95, premium 98? i figured 98 is a cleaner burning fuel, but i was dead wrong about the nulon so thought i'd check this too.

and yes chrisw, new here and very concerned so i thought i'd make this thread to get some input as i'm new to all this, everyone's comments are much much appreciated, thank you.
Don't worry, one application isn't going to do any damage, you would have to keep adding the stuff every oil change before there was a problem. Most of it is probably already safely inside your oil filter

As for fuel, 95 RON (equivalent of 91 AKI) is the minimum you can safely run, but you can potentially get better performance with 97/98 RON (equivalent of 93/94 AKI in the US).

your ok just get it out of there. all you need is a good brand oil and filter
and your set. oh and check your oil every fill up...

plus if i was you and my dealer told me i had to wait 10 days for an oil change
i would either change dealers or learn how to do it myself

just a quick update, couldn't find the K&N oil filter but will be replacing the engine oil and oil filter with this performance magnetic oil filter, i was told by the people at autobarn that's just as good for a car driven 6k? although the 350Z is listed as being compatible, i'm assuming the list is probably dated since the sales rep at autobarn confirmed it'll work with the 370Z?

http://www.overboost-motorsports.com...ct-575862.html

The guy over at Nissan said he'll flush the engine before the oil change. I'm assuming that's standard and shouldn't be a problem, however I had heard that flushing also does more harm than good. I didn't ask for the flush, the service person at Nissan suggested it so what's the go? Should I just tell him to change the oil and not flush? I've got just over 5.5 liters of redline 5W30 ready to go.
