2010 370Z Engine Lubricant etc...
Hi All,
Just bought my first Z, 40th Anniversary edition and just got it serviced. Was wondering what kind of engine lubricant to use, I bought some Nulon Long Term 80,000kms engine treatment...won't do any harm would it? Also not too familiar with the fuel injection system and whether there would be any benefit in using a cleaner. The car's only driven 5,500km so it's practicallly brand new...i'd like to keep it that way. Suggestions would be great, thanks in advance. |

Don't use any of those snake oil engine treatments! At best they don't work, at worst they could accumulate in the wrong place and damage your engine and void your warranty.
To point out how bad this particular product is, they were banned from selling the USA due to unverifiable claims. Usually you can sell any kind of snake oil here! Heck take some multi-vitamins and relabel as "male enhancement" pills and you can make millions!

i added the nulon before i saw your posts. i had no idea they could be so harmful, never considered them accumulating...having said that the climate here on the gold coast is quite warm, any chance that might be positive? if not what can i do to fix it? another oil change or just leave it be?

All you can do is change your oil to get rid of it, after a couple of oil changes it should be all gone. I wouldn't be hitting the track with that stuff in there, high temps can turn PTFE into a very nasty substance. Fortunately there probably isn't that much in there so you should be safe.

Well it's in there now so I wouldn't freak out. Just drive your 5000 km and do an oil change as normal. How many miles do you have on the car?

I personally would just drop the oil with 5 qt of fresh. Filter holds very little. - b |

i spent money on the stupid nulon to begin with, but if necessary i'd prefer to spend the money and fix the problem as best i can also what petrol should i be using? premium 95, premium 98? i figured 98 is a cleaner burning fuel, but i was dead wrong about the nulon so thought i'd check this too. and yes chrisw, new here and very concerned so i thought i'd make this thread to get some input as i'm new to all this, everyone's comments are much much appreciated, thank you. |
