+1 for succinctness

I know what SRM is, but what is SVM? :rofl2:

JARblue 04-16-2012 10:10 PM

I was just going with the flow. I've always used SRM previously but just figured Synchro reV Match was an acceptable alternate acronym.

oops, fixed, haha

Here's a short anectdote: I personally loved the SRM when I first got it. Coming from an old TR7 with bad synchros, I had by necessity learned how to heel-toe rev match and when I test drove the Z, I was blown away. I drove with it on for a long time since the system does it perfectly everytime, until I decided to use it to teach me how the engine and throttle react to my foot and learn what revs I needed at a given speed for a whatever gear I was downshifting to. It really helped me get the feel for the Z until I began driving with it off last summer. Nowadays, I only switch it on when I'm in traffic since the smoother shifts are easier on the clutch and presumably help extend its life.

Anyone who's driven a heavy truck for a living doesn't need SRM and probably will never use it. And like some others have said, after a while you probably will prefer matching engine speed/gear/road speed yourself.

I really didn't want to spend the extra dough on the sport package, but the car I wanted, Gun Metallic, had it, so I bought it. Having said that, I can still say I don't care about the differential or the spoilers, or even the wider tires, but the Rays are nice, and the brakes are indispensible. Could not possibly see myself having this car without those brakes now.

Didn't know either

When i found my used one this past fall, had no idea about the Sport package. Now that I've learned some things about the 370 series, I wouldn't buy one without it....The syncro matching transmission will make you giggle each time you use it...Why would you take off one of the prettiest rims made for something else? The Sport package makes the cars look much more refined without being a "kid" car...

Most people who don't get the sport pkg wind up trying to buy it in parts later. It will be hard to get a comparable sport setup on your own for less than $7,000. And at 7k half your parts you will buy used. New you will be closer to 10k.

I am on the must have sport option team as well.

My wife, who drives a manual just fine, goes bat **** over SRM. It was the gotta have it option for her. And it does make me giggle too so I rarely disable it.

The 19" Rays to me look fantastic but that is quite subjective. Tire size/price is not so yummy. I like the 18" stock wheels as well and would not have minded smaller wheels in a base package but SRM was required.

The better optioned Z car to me has 18" wheels with big brakes (can be done after), SRM option, and Nav. The only thing I like in the touring package is heated seats.

This of course...does not exist so I got me a loaded Z. <shrug> :D

I'd go sport, to me the 19's are just so sexy.

TerribleONE 04-17-2012 10:52 AM

Non sport here... however I was looking to go aftermarket before I bought the car.. If you plan to just leave it alone definitely get the sport

Dembflyr 04-17-2012 11:02 AM

$3500 is a deal for all that you get.

Even if you're gonna change the wheels or never use the SRM its still well worth the money.

It would be a good idea to go for the base is if you want your own wheels, LSD, BBK, and wing or spoiler. But it will cost you a LOT more than $3500.

MacLean 04-17-2012 02:12 PM

Just go for it...... You get teh 19's & better brakes for the time being until you decide to up-grade the rims, or brakes.

NYBladeZ 04-17-2012 04:14 PM

sports package or bust, I concur with members who say the synchro rev alone is worth it. The wheels looks sweet and are pretty damn light.
