Yes I mean the O2 sensor. I'm not sure myself how they correlate. My ses light came back on and that last light stopped working again but I bet when I check the O2 sensor and retighten it and then reset the ses light I bet the gauge will work correctly again.

I'm sorry, but those two things have ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with each other......What you're experiencing is purely coincidental..... |

Yes you are right by all means they should not effect each other but for some reason they are. I think if they do have anything to do with each other it might be that both of them connect to the main ECU??

so i checked the service manual. taking out the fuel sensor doesn't seem too complicated. if i take out the sensor and clean the contacts with some fuel system cleaner or even brake cleaning fluid, would that solve the problem? or should i just take it to the stealership (who may end up doing more harm than good anyway)? and where can i get that techron stuff anyway? it's not even on ebay

Loose "male"/"female" connectors? Try contact cleaner, 'nstead of fuel system cleaner or brake cleaning fluid. It's a small spray can ('bout $4.00 in Radio Shack). Good luck! (Techron is sold at Pep Boys, Auto Zone and Advance Auto Parts; but that's for the fuel injectors/combustion chamber/valves, though).

modshack's suggestion worked for me. i never had this problem up until my car was in the body shop. it was there for a month with an almost empty tank and it was sitting for most of the time.
when i got it back, i ran out of gas (had to push it, thank god i was in the parking lot of a gas station) and it showed a 1/4 tank (4 dots). when i filled up till it clicked, 2 dots were not lit. i had to use two treatments of 20gal techron fuel sys cleaner to get the lights to work properly. i was about to take it to the dealer thinking the fuel sender unit was faulty but it seems accurate now. |

so its not sulphur deposits. its the sender itself that needs replacement. does that mean the techron stuff doesn't fix it? anyone had any luck with a fix yet?

today i filled up the tank, and after driving for about 20-30 km the last led finally came on for the first time in months!!!!!!!!! but it stayed on for just 6-7 minutes and then went off again
i topped off the tank and it still stayed off. what could be the cause? if it was sulfur deposits clogging up the contacts, why would the problem fix itself for a few minutes? maybe the sending unit itself is glitchy and needs replacement, like what happened with the guy from australia. any chance nissan will issue a tsb for this since it does seem relatively common? |

Yeah guys, this is a known problem. I'm taking my car in soon to get it fixed... My last light won't come on. It seems that our Aussie ones have the most issues... I'm thinking it might have something to do with the fuel??
I think GTRFAN has the worst, I think he's missing 3 lights or so or maybe its MAJESTIK can't remember lol |
