That being said, I agreed with other poster about OEM tires are junk and not provide enough grip.. this is specially true with OEM Good year F1 GS2 supercar runflat tires on Corvette.

While during normal driving I don't get any wheel spin, I will say that with any kind of spirited driving VDC is always kicking in. I've driven lots of high performance cars and the 370z is one of the worst when it comes to traction. I find it amazing that with it's power level I can still spin 3rd while already rolling if I put my foot into. I mean a lot of it has to do with the crappy roads here and the fact that they are always covered in dust being that I'm in the desert. But still, other cars I've owned or driven with more power don't have the same traction issues my 370z does. Used to have an 09 touring sport and now have a 2010 NISMO. Both were the same with poor traction. I'm hoping some new tires will help with this issue when it's time for replacement but I'm not sure. |

Wheel spin is no problem. I turn off the traction control every time I start the car. I manually shift my AT all the time. When turning corners I always punch it and the rear end breaks loose when going from 1st to 2nd, and I get a little sideways action. No problem. I like it. It keeps the smile on my face.

It sounds like you need more practice driving this car to adjust your driving style to it.
It doesn't matter how many other manual cars you have driven, each one has its own personality and you have to adjust to it. |

+1...... I have noticed sometimes when I'm at a light & I am about to get on a toll & the road dips a little bit & I shift gears the traction control comes on my G35 (6MT)...... This was several years ago by the way. I will bet it is the roads being uneven a bit, or just particles on the road. Maybe you need to air up your tires more...... |

I could be a horrible driver who knows... or maybe its the tires, or maybe its the traction control I was so used to in my older cars, but not this one. I still love the car, its my second Z after having German and American sports cars, so I will always be a Z driver. I just wanted to get a feel for some outside perspective as I really don't have any friends who are into cars.
So if it was a dumb question, I didn't mean to insult anyone's intelligence on this forum. No one here is dumb, after all, the 370z is IMO a "smart person's car." It has sophistication, technology and style. If it was a car for an idiot, we would all be on some Camaro or Challenger forum talking about how fast we can drive in a straight line. Thanks for the good, bad and sarcastic feedback from everyone. |
