So I have had my Z for a little over a week now and I noticed that not all the attention it gets is good attention.
Here is a story from last night.
Im driving about 60 in the right hand lane trying to get my Sirius to the channels I like and all of a sudden there is a VW GTI up my ***. I slow down hoping they will just pass me and then they pull up next to me and start to get real close to my car coming into my lane, then proceed to go as fast as they can and cut me off as if we were racing, nearly side swiping my car. I put the brights on (which I must say are quite impressive) and then the idiot empties their entire windshield wiper fluid hoping to I guess saturate me in glass cleaner to piss me off. This is the third time in a week some kid in a civic/gti/sentra has tried to pretend we are racing when really I am just minding my own business and enjoying my ride. Nearly getting hit or having people speed around and towards me because of the car has been only unwanted attention I have gotten. The compliments have far outweighed the bad but its still annoying. In New York also everyone is about 500% more tough behind the wheel of their car so they become even more aggressive. To make it even funnier the driver of the GTI was a guy but his license plate was 'VW GIRRRL', go figure, I guess his girlfriend is the breadwinner. Hell im all for people liking the car, wanting to check it out, if you asked me nicely id even offer you a ride in it, but I just wish these kids in their ricer mobiles would stop trying to instigate a race out of me on the damn highway.

The only way Civic/GTI drivers win races is if the other participant, Isn't participating. They 'speed' past you in the slow lane and then go to their 'br0s' and talk about how they smoked you.

Yea had a little douchebag mess with me last Saturday. I was rolling up to the Nissan dealership with a friend to check out the GT-R Black Edition that was rumored of being there. Well I accelerated normally from the light just before the dealership and wasnt paying much attention to others around me and as I was getting into the turning lane to turn into the dealership this punk in a honda swerved around me or just for the hell of it tried to cut me off. Jokes on him I was slowing down to turn :tiphat:. But yea I would of followed that POS to where he lived or decided to pull over to have a chat with him if I was heading straight down the road when he pulled that stunt. I haven't had any issues out of the Mustangs or Camaros in the area it seems to be only punk kids in the Hondas that feel they have something to prove :shakes head:

anyone have a bolt on miata with crazy offset wheels with a lot of camber do a ricer fly-by on them.... :shakes head: I did and laughed. I have had these things happen to me quite a few time, the wife and I literally shake our heads and laugh. I keep driving and they look like a douche, I also have had a mustang and new camaro do it. It was hard to resist the camaro but I kept minding my own business :driving:

A few weeks after I bought my Z, a dude in a Mazdaspeed3 tried to race me at a light RIGHT IN FRONT OF A POLICE STATION.

Just don't give them the time of day. They won't pay your speeding ticket, your racing ticket, or for you to get your car out of impound.

that sucks to hear. What part of NYC are you driving around? I rarely see people do that to me at all. Then again, I did 98% of my driving on local residential streets, so you can't really do much anyway lol.

You should have called 911 on that jerk. Wreckless driving like that should be reported. You had his/her plate...could've been stolen, drunk, high, drugs in the car.

Sorry this happened to you. But next time you should vent to the police. You could have been wrecked, hurt, killed had that guy lost control while he was acting like an asshat. Still you did nothing. You're not the only motorist...he'll do it again to somebody else. So report it.

My first test drive in a used 370Z, not even a 1/4 from the stealership I had a mustang flex is motor muscle at me. The Z had a huge PRE OWNED CERTIFIED sticker on the front windshield. I just shook my head, and it kinda made me think twice about getting another sports car. I hate it when riceheads think they got to strut their stuff.

I had a guy in an integra cutting people off, cutting in and out of lanes downs the highway... I waited til he got next to me and took off and left him there with nothing to do but slam his tiny brakes on his 10 inch rotors.

Im part of the group who ignores these characters, but I watched him cut off my girlfriend in her DD cavalier in my rear view, thats a huge no no in my book :)

Lower window. Yell, "Fuck you". Move on.

Thats pretty lame, a lot of that can depend on the area but ricers are everywhere

I will say one thing, I truly enjoy being in the the Z because often I do not feel the need to prove my cars worth.

Like the other day, some Cobalt was up my ***, then came up next to me, no thumbs up, just some revving and the dude in the passenger seat giving me the look and making his hat more crooked

I just shook my head and put my window up lol. He speeds off. I felt a little douchy but at the end of the day, I'm in the Z...don't need to prove myself to some lame car...at the end of the day, he knows it too

I will say in my area...its more thumbs up and gawking...if someone revvs on me, its more in appreciation..and a mutual thumbs up or nod

Pit maneuver!

I had a blue 350z come flying up on my rear last night, and then switch lanes beside me and as soon as his exhaust was even with my passenger window he puts it in neutral and just bounces it off the rev limiter for a solid 7-10 seconds. Me and my passenger look at each other and just bust out laughing haha.

The old me would have followed them home or got in front of them and come to a complete stop on any highway or road and taken it from there. Thankfully I have matured (somewhat) I always ask myself what my wife would say and it seems to calm me down moderately...I only followed them for about 5 minutes, might have gone longer if they were headed in the right direction! Thankfully the compliments about the Z far outweigh all the morons in civics and mazdas...you're right, haters gonna hate!

Here in DF Dummy-U, it happens to me like twice a day. Wah u guna do ah??? That's just the way ricers think. Sometimes its hard to ignore when you are constantly hammered with the daily rice-o-rama. I look at it as a test of will to ignore them and not smash there face in. Lol

whatever you do, just dont race them. unless its on a track. i have first hand experience of what its like to have a pedestrian collide with the front of your vehicle at 50 mph. it will change your life forever, and its hard to even get back in the driver's seat after that. and even if you are not at fault, everyone wants your head to roll. i get people pulling dangerous stunts all the time, nearly hitting me to get noticed. especially motorcycles and pickup trucks for whatever reason. i just crank up the radio and count my blessings.

psh here in Tampa I get that daily. Bunch of ricers with there loud as hell "fart" cannons, and mixed matched painted hoods and doors.

Like Amj2020 says.. just follow them and be a **** that way. LOL

seriously though, its an incredible annoyance.

Speaking of which... someone scratched the hell out of my car above the gas tank... I gotta make a thread about that, to find out what shop will fix it... :(

I had something similar happen to me this morning, with some D-Bag (Long Island variety) up my *** in his newer audi S4, as soon as I pulled out of my street. I slow down over the train tracks so I don't bottom out, he is waving his arms around like cursing at me right on my bumper pretty much... These are one lane roads... So i just slowly slowed down to a near stop, the guy was trapped and went nuts at me, I ended up antagonizing him enough for him to attempt to go in the other direction lane attempt to pass me, yet there was another car coming so he changed his mind... The guy then comes back and starts taking pictures of my car, like I'm on his sh1t list now. He is holding his camera up trying to snap pictures, and fuming.

I won't do it in the Wife's 370Z, But when someone Tailgates the 1971 Z/28, If the coast is clear and no 5.0, at the next stop, I do a 3500 rpm clutch dump and spit raw Tar on their car.....The last time i did it in the Daylight, the Guy came through the smoke with his high beams on....He was very mad that I stuck roadway parts into his paint...Must of sounded like a hailstorm.. Moral is don't tailgate..I love dumping the Clutch.....

sounds like a similar situation i had a few weeks ago. going down a 2 lane road (one lane each way) with speed bumps, and some guy in a SUV is riding my ***. im slowing down for the speed bumps so i dont bottom out, which was apparently unacceptable to the guy driving the SUV. he starts going apeshit honking at me. perhaps he thought i was brake-checking him? i wasnt (intentionally at least, the brakes are pretty good!), either way it wouldn't have been an issue if he wasn't riding my ***! next thing i know he is trying to pass me over the double yellow line, so i causally press the gas pedal in 5th and he can't pass. not sure where he was going to go anyway since there was another car going the same speed as me about 10 car lengths ahead. once he stopped trying to pass me (due to oncoming traffic and a sharp curve in the road) he just lays on his horn for a good minute or so while riding my ***. then he's stuck at a red light behind me and a half dozen cars for a few minutes, while i wonder what all the fuss was about. :ugh2:

I usually keep some bricks in my car. When someone tailgates me, open my window and launch two bricks into their car. I also keep a can of paint in my car. I usually just pop the top and fling that out the window also. Last thing I keep in my car is a dozen eggs. I usually only throw 3 if I'm in a good mood.

lol dude at least you're getting Civics and VWs.

I'm not even kidding.. 5 or 6 times (in 3 weeks) now I've have guys young and old beside me in DODGE CARAVANS and GMC Safaris staring at my car.. then when the light turns they floor it, proving to me that their huge family wagon is every bit as fast.

Most people out there are retarded. I never pulled up next to 350s when I had my Civic and took off at green lights.. cuz I knew if they actually floored it they'd leave me behind and it'd be super embarrassing haha

Thanks...I have two driving style's...Race mode, and cruise..If I am cruising, I just get out of people's way. I will move over...But when they just ride as close as they can ? In the F150, I don't even look, there is 6600 Pounds and 8 feet of metal between them and me..I do not hog the Fast lane ever..

In the 370Z ? Kinda scary when a 500 Dollar car that you know is NOT insured is riding your Rear....But I am 52 now, so I deal with things different..Again, if I am not in race mode, I will just move over...Even if I am in the center lane. I move

But yes, In the Z/28 don't ride the bumper....Hell, I am down for a race in a remote area, or on the track...Hell, I may even lose... But we are not talking about Cool racer type Guys..The tailgaters get Tar Blasted....The car will rip up the roadway...

We are talking about hateful, angry people...If they want to race in the proper setting, Right on, sounds like fun..Win or Lose...We can have some fun.

But I know your guys craziness...The 370Z says tailgate me...And it won't take a rear end hit nicely...And usually it is a beater car behind you..

I mean this guy doesn't respect me, never will met me, and feels brave enough to nearly run me off the road because he wants to get to work faster, and he is driving a nice car too, a new freaking S4. You may think he can appreciate the fact i need to roll over a freaking railroad. Sticking his finger at me, and taking pictures of me to try and antagonize me LOL. He must of been in his 50's, I'm a 31 year old guy, so people never grow up.

I'm glad bucketlist got even with some of these people, and really it's a shame that some people aren't mature enough to share a public infrastructure
