I don't notice fwd cars as I'm to busy racing up to Porsches and Lamboghinis and racing them! But they never race me? I'm sure they are worried I will beat them so I fly by them real close like. :happydance:

I have done some things in my day that I am lucky nothing happened..And Now at 52, I just cannot take the chance.Way too much to lose...So I lose every street race because i don't race...Much less fun than years ago, but just the way it is... |
oddly enough...i don't remember ever having someone try to goad me into racing them with my Z
It happened a lot with my 3rd gen eclipse though |

I once hunted a 350z ricer with several NISMO stickers all over his car driving aggresive on the street. Saw him and when I pulled up next to him on the nearest traffic light we launched... Needlesss to say, I am sure he threw away all his NISMO stickers after I taught him a lesson.

The long island variety of idiot driver takes it to another level. Aside from the I own the world/road/right of way at all times/dont need to stop at stop sign mentality they are just horrible drivers. I love the tar clutch dump idea, I will keep that one in mind! As my old college professor told me..."everyone in America plays baseball, so I always keep a bat in my cars"...best teacher ever

dang, you guys are still venting? wow...

I have noticed people trying to race me all the time since I got my Z. Most of the time I just chill and don't react at all and laugh at them for looking like an idiot.
|
I can't believe only one person has tried to race me. I'm not even sure he wanted to race.
Sitting at a light. He revved his newish civic si. I revved to 5k (Berk bolt-ons) and we left it at that. Boring, I know  |

Technically, can't considered they were street racing, because he didn't say how hard they launch, and he didn't say they passed the speed limit, maybe they just hard accelerated to 45mph :bowrofl: :bowrofl: |
Yea you should have called the cops. One time I was driving on the freeway and saw a civic come up next to me and it was some dumb redneck kid. I just gave a little rev and he frickin lost it. He sped up and swerved crazily around cars until he couldn't go any further, then hit the shoulder! Which was a dirt shoulder btw. And zooms off, in the dirt. I was like omG. I knew there was no way he wasn't gonna get pulled over. Few miles down the road of course there he was pulled over lol. Gave a little set of honks as I cruised by. Some absolutely insane people out there for sure.

I have many similar stories when I was driving my Z. Now in a Corvette, no one seems to mess with me... because they know or watch this: Two Turkeys on Thanksgiving Wrecking their Corvettes in The Woodlands - YouTube youtube video and instantly know that people in corvette can't drive and I may hit them LOL.

something like that happened to me this afternoon
i was cruising down the highway at 65-70 when this middle aged guy in an accord starts tailing me, flipping me off, ect. so i decide to mess with him a bit, i speed up a little to get to the closet car in the lane next to me(this is a 2 lane highway) and i speed match the guy(he was driving the speed limit) blocking the d-bag, eventually i get bored and i let him pass me up but i really dont understand why people do that, it happened to me all the time in my 2g eclipse gst, and i was hoping i wouldnt get this kind of attention with my new 370z oh well ricers will be ricers, just gotta be the mature one and let them drive off |

I thought I would get more of this, but only have 2 stories.
I was cruising on the freeway going home late from work and I get stuck behind a slow car int he fats lane. No biggie. I see a car coming in the next lane so I wait for it to pass (it's an Integra) before switching over to that lane. It's not going that fats so I switch back to the right lane and continue at my cruise speed which happens to be slightly faster than the integra as I pass him slowly. he must have thought I was looking down on him for changing lanes form behind him into the next one or something. He speed sup and passes me but doesn't maintain that speed so I catch and pass him again (I have not changed my speed). He then zooms off form next to me. Second time was on the onrmap onto the freeway. There was a 5 series BMW behind me that was riding my *** on the ramp. I don't know why since there is a light at the top so we'll have to stop anyway. He predictably switched into the right lane of the ramp so we're side by side at the light. I knew he was going to try to gun it and cut me off onto the freeway because his mid-sized family sedan BMW is so amazing... Anyhow, I hit the gas when the light goes green and he tries, but is unable to get in front of me onto the freeway. I chuckle to myself as I get up to my normal cruising speed, change to the left lanes and forget about him. (note: this was not street racing since we were just accelerating onto the freeway and didn't not hit illegal speeds and did not hard launch) |

I've driven some Hondas that will most definitely put some lengths on the majority of the Zs on the street. I've also seen an insanely high percentage of ricers driving Civics : / My most recent ricer story: I was heading back to the office after lunch today, on my XS650 short chop. There's a section of road with some long sweeping turns. Not even tight enough to justify a slight tap of the brakes if you're doing the 45mph speed limit. I passed these 2 older guys that were on Harleys. They were probably doing like 35-40mph and I was doing 45-50mph. The next light was red, and I heard their bikes behind me. Light turns green, I pull off and one of the guys gets next to me in my lane and downshifts and takes off, like we were racing. I just laughed and shook my head as I got in the turn lane to make my left hand turn into the business plaza. |
harley ricers, lol

Texas is a big state and I do a lot of driving.
( Click to show/hide )
They're mostly in my Accord or a rental and not the Z (although we've put 17K on the Z in 13 months :driving: ) When I'm on a trip, my goal is to set cruise and stay away from all other drivers. I will speed up or slow down to avoid cruising with other cars ('cept for the convoy of course). In most of the cars this is not a problem. Occasionally someone will get pissed when I drop the Accord into 3rd at 55 mph and blow past them in a safe passing zone, and then I can't back off to my original cruise control speed without them tailgating my a$$. But it seems like any change in speed in the Z elicits a response from nearby drivers. If I slow down, they get next to me and match speed. If I speed up, they try to keep up. I often just look over at them and wave as I drop a gear and let off the gas. I've gone from cruise control at 75 in the right hand lane to 4th gear to slow down to 55 then accelerated to 80 back to 55 to 80 back to 55 all without braking before accelerating back to 75 and setting cruise control just to get some stupid Pontiac G6 to back off my a$$. Seriously, I was in the right hand lane and passed him on cruise (and yes of course he was doing about 68 in a 65 in the left hand lane), and he immediately get over and starts tailgating? Ummm, NO... :shakes head: |

I always love the soccor mom or dad driving the minivan that aggressively tail me and pass me like they are driving a race car lol. Always cracks me up

A lot of Harley owners buy the loudest exhausts possible, with little to no regard for performance. Most of the short exhausts actually LOSE power instead of gaining. Then they rev their bikes everywhere all the time, while wearing head to toe gear that's all Harley branded. Sounds like a ricer to me... lol The above applies to what I call "Harley guys" not "motorcycle guys" or bikers. Harley guys are the guys that won't even acknowledge you unless you're on a late model Harley or a chopper that looks like it came from Orange County Choppers. Motorcycle guys aren't total snobs; Harley guys are. |
I know ricer doesn't apply only to imports. It just sounds funny though because Harley is such a big burly tough guy american a brand image and ricer is, well, RICE! I do not dispute the Harley ricers, though. I just don't see enough of them for them to register.

So is there any classification for all the chromy cars I see? They don't make me think rice, but they need some kind of title. When i think rice, I think fart cans, way too much negative camber and over the top spoilers and cheesy vent stick-on type things. Like a really tacky wannabe race car (in his head) type.
How about those cars that have huge chrome wheels and a bunch of chome stuck everywhere? I see a lot of those bu they don't seem rice to me because there is no pretense of supposedly looking sporty or racey. Are we grouping it all under rice or can we create a new classification? |
how about:
the "i need attention all the time, i apparently had some money at SOME point in my life, cant you see these giant chrome wheels on this 1998 pontiac grand prix? look at this goofy cheap chrome sticker all around the doors and windows! and notice the huge sticker on the front windshield that says "grand prix" because it looks so exotic that nobody can tell what it is." CATEGORY. seems legit |
how about the rent to own wheels category!
|
On twisty windy roads, most cruiser bikes (harley, yamaha, honda, whatever.. ) are considered rolling roadblocks. They can't corner worth a sh!t, and just slow you down.
Something is amiss if the recommended corner speed is 45 mph and they're doing 35 or 40mph. |
I empathize with OP. One week within getting my Z I was minding my own business on the highway when out of nowhere some douche in a POS TOYOTA CAMRY cut me off really fast in front of me using the exit lane....I had the last laugh as he didn't realized there was a cop not too far behind us and the idiot got stopped right after cutting me off :)

I got a new one from my drive home from work on Monday. I am about half a mile away from my neighborhood and pull up to a stop sign given this is during the busy 4-5pm hour where traffic is heavy. Well There is an SUV coming from the right who will either brake hard and turn on the street I am on or keep going straight in the lane I need to get in. Well I roll forward a bit and second guess the distance of said SUV and decide since I hesitated that I will not risk pulling out in front of it and it actually does continue straight. Well apparently the guy in the Celica behind me goes ballistic that I am keeping him from getting home a whole extra minute of his day as I let the SUV pass and commences to squeezing his POS next to me and the ditch so he can turn right cuz its all clear in his direction. He is yelling and going crazy as he is pulling next to me to make the turn. I am laughing but also concerned that he does not side swipe me as he does this. I wish I hugged more to the right so he wouldn't of had any room to pull that manuever. I got home without incident but man some people need to chill the f@ck out!!! :shakes head:
