That's interesting. I wonder if it's so that it can fit in the Datsun lineup. I have no doubts that if it's in the Toyota FT86/Subaru BRZ class, the new Z would dominate. Either way, I'm keeping my Nismo 370

Yeah a more refined / durable engine would be nice. One that doesn't overheat so easily and sound like crap in ^ RPMS.

Something more like the I-6 T / N55 but higher revving. Mercedes has a nice 306hp V6 as well. I'd gladly sacrifice 30 or so HP for more flexibility, durability and refinement.

Other than the engine, improving the suspension tuning for better feedback, ditching the seats for some closer to those like in the EVO X, and a few other relatively minor things would go a long way.

I think people would have no problem paying a bit more if they did this. It would defiantly receive better reviews.

Dont count on it. Likely going to be NA 4 cylinder. Clearly a sparrow ...not an Eagle

I was wondering how long it would take to see this info on here. I read the same article over at Nasioc 3 days ago. LOL. I figured someone would have posted it before now.

I don't think they need to make the car any smaller. It is already a small car. What they should do is take a good look at the design and shave weight any way they can. They should also continue to refine their 3.7 engine. I really hope they don't go to a smaller engine, its not like the current engine is overly large or anything.

the 3.7 VHR is bordering on overly large.

Honestly I'd expect 2.5 to 3.0 maybe boosted if smaller(doubtful)

hopefully prices will go down tho

I really hope they do not nerf their engine like this they have achieved a great weight distribution with the 3.7 why fix it if its not broken? Owners get great reliable power from a NA engine and if you are inclined you can boost it for some serious results!

im wondering if the Z may have peaked for what it is, the whole power to weight ratio thing? i suppose they could tweak this or that, but im biased because i am so satisfied with my 370. like one dude said, this could be the one to keep! of course, the last thing i want the next Z to be is inferior, as i am a huge nissan fan, and i want them to stay on top of the class!

Doesnt the Z34 still have a steel frame? Switching to an aluminum frame (ala Z06 vette) would be a huge weight savings.

and price tag...

When I first read this article this is the first thing I thought. Our cars resale value goes up lol.

TBH, I kinda like having a big V6 in an import, its.... unique haha

kenchan 04-11-2012 12:41 PM

yah, we need a silvia to compete with the brz/frs, etc.

Iceagetlc 04-11-2012 12:50 PM

My prediction: 3.0l- 3.5l Inline 6 ending the VQ lineup. 3050 lbs, 315hp- 295 ft/lbs of torque with an 8,000 RPM rev limiter. 0-60 in 4.9 and 1/4 mile in 13.1

I also see them bringing back the X suffix to differentiate the years of car. I.E. 350ZX

What's up with all the people dissing on the 370z? I love my car! Yes the overheating oil thing pisses me off but that's really it. I'll fix that soon. Little bit snappy when you pitch it sideways but that can be fixed too. I'm pretty tall and really appreciate being able to fit into a rear wheel drive sports car. But I fit very nicely in the 240z too.
