who do I need to pay? :)

I took the upper cubby out, and put in a samsung galaxy tablet 7".... but I want it to sit in there all flush with a nice mold to match the rest of the dash... I''m looking to do the recessed look. Similar to what the navigation package for the 370z already does.

My question is, anyone interested in doing this? Or know of a local shop that would..?

I'm located in Tampa Florida.

I will once I can get it completed :p

Really looking for someone to build a mold for me.. I can send whomever what they need and pay their price.

Heh, I was looking for the same thing and I'm also in Tampa. If you find someone please let me know.

Now I forget who but someone on this forum has done this and looks very clean, almost factory look. I think he had the Blackberry tablet or Samsung but it was huge and made it sit flush.

can you fit the cubby door back on and close it when it's not in use?

Ron 04-10-2012 09:18 AM

did it but not with a tablet, waiting to get the car back form the mechanic so I can finish the bottom piece.

Ron, what are you using for the engine management info displayed on the screen?

Ron 04-10-2012 09:40 AM

I built a mini-itx computer with a DC-DC power supply. The software is Dashcommand by Palmer Engineering, it gets info from the OBD2 port via usb. Boost and Oil pressure data come from PLX sensor modules, usb as well. Gauges are customizable and programmable so you can pretty much make a gauge for whatever you want... providing there is a signal from the ECU or a supported sensor module for it. Check my journal for more pics, page 9 :D

Yes I can.. with what I have... but I plan on finding someone who can get it to fit in perfectly with a recessed look. VERY Similar to what Ron has..

@RON
I've been following your thread for a few days ron!
I absolutely love what you got going on there.
I decided to go the tablet route instead of a car computer... just for price and touchscreen etc..

Would you be interested in fabricating something for me? And for how much?

Ron 04-10-2012 12:56 PM

Thanks. I did not really mold anything in place. I used the shroud off of a navi model center console and cut the bottom part off. To attach the screen I used the bracket from the navi model that holds the stock screen in place. Since they are Double DIN sized it was pretty easy to match up. I am not sure how to do it with a tablet since they are not all standard sized. I would think you would have to mold something out of fiberglass for that recessed look with a tablet.

That looks good!
