It will make a 5min stop to a 15min stop because you pissed off the cop and now he will prob give you a ticket for anything he can, like tinted windows.. All for not showing some ID. |

I don't run a front plate, and I'm completely aware this gives every cop that drives by the opportunity to have a discussion with me about it should he choose to. 9 times out of 10, he's just making sure I'm not reeking of booze. Once he's satisfied I'm ok, I usually get a warning. I've gotten a few tickets, and I pay them and go on with my life. The vast majority of my other traffic stops and tickets were completely justified by me doing something against the law (likely speed related), so I can't really be too upset.

Another question for everyone... If I get any kind of warning from cops, say speeding or no front plate and so on, does it has a record on me and increases the chance to get a ticket next time being pulled over? And if so, how long does the warning record stay? |

I've received 3 tickets for no front license plate.... I've just paid them and moved on. Didn't prevent me from renewing my registration either.

Go read something actually useful people. The constitution and bill of human rights is for you! Learn it because as the law states - ignorance to the law is no excuse - so they are saying its your own fault if you don't know or understand it. This how they take advantage of everyday citizens by bullying there way into a position of power and to many people are scared of the police thinking if thy challenge them that they are going to jail but you won't! Also guys might want to reconsider putting the plate in front window. That can be a very sharp projectile in the cabin if you (heaven forbid) where to get in an accident!

All of the above is technically correct. Although, not running a front plate in an area where it is required by law is illegal, thus not allowing you to refuse the interaction with the police. Every time I've been pulled over, my goal was to avoid the ticket and make the stop as short as possible. The best way to do that is to comply with reasonable police requests and not break his balls too badly. While I could flex my rights, I have a feeling that you may go from discussing them with an officer to discussing them with a judge. Even if everything is dismissed, you still went to court (or jail) and wasted your time.
Texas inadvertantly removed the penalty for no front plate because our legislators didn't proof-read something, but you'll still have to talk to the police when they pull you over for it.

let me ask u guys something... if u think by "not showing a cop your id" and spouting of a bunch of bs law crap u learned on the internet will help anything, u may want to reconsider. let me tell u why..
you get pulled over officer: sir can i see your ID you: i don't need to show you my ID, i wasn't doing anything officer (thinking to himself, while i cannot legally arrest or ticket this man i now have suspicious behavior) Now he can say ANYTHING... ANYTHING that he saw u do that could have gotten u pulled over. not signalling far enough in advance, u touched a boundry line, excessive acceleration (yea, thats a real ticket), noise violation, tint looked too dark, etc..., etc.... And chances are, you probably brake about 50 traffic laws a day that you don't know about. Now, because you are "so smart with your newfound online knowlege" he now has reasonable cause to ask you for a vehicle search, sobriety test, or anything else that are legally within his rights to do after pulling u over... all things u could have avoided by just providing your damn ID. theres a reason there are people (lawyers) that are paid to know every loophole of the law

Spouting off the Constitution to a cop is an awesome idea if you want to taste dirt with a boot to the back of your neck. Disorderly conduct laws are intentionally vague for a reason.

None of my sports cars have had license plates on the front, only got hassled for it when I was young. Got pulled over a lot more then too.
About 110k on a 71 240z About 120k on a 69 Vette (turn signals never worked on this one either) 17k on the 370z so far. No pull-overs for license, no warnings. Don't be an idiot, be nice and polite to the cop and don't get out of the vehicle. They really don't like it when you do that.

Little un-official observation on the highway
Mercedes: 7/8 do not have Lotus: 1/1 do not have Mustang: 1/1 do not have Porsche: 2/4 do not have Miata: 2/2 Have BMW: 2/2 Have I was almost laughing when I was counting up the Mercedes. Even the female drivers run without front plates
