Can't Start My 370

This morning when I started my 370 it chugged a little before it turned over. I drove it to work and parked it. Went to go to lunch and the car won't do anything. There's a yellow "key" icon to the left of the gas gauge lit up, and a red silouette of a car with a key in the middle of it next to the tach that lights up. I thought maybe my fob's battery had died so I had my wife bring the extra over that has never been used. Same deal. Still won't do anything. I put the fob into the hole to the bottom left of the steering column, but nothing happens and the same lights still appear. Any ideas? Is it a dead car battery? The fobs still work for locking/unlocking the doors. Doesn't seem like it's a dead fob battery since the extra key won't work either. Thanks in advance.

Damn good luck man.. take your car to the dealer if its still under warranty! It sounds like it is the steering wheel lock. :(

My car has 13,000 miles on it, but it's an 09 so it's out of warranty. Am I screwed? What kind of bill are we talking about to get this problem fixed?

SPOHN 03-27-2012 07:40 PM

Has it been three years since purchase date? The part cost about $500.

Yep, warranty expired last September. I will never buy another Nissan.

Dang Dude, One problem and you're giving up on the whole line... let me see, anyone here know of ANY vehicle or line of vehicles that are absolutely problem free? Please let me know cause I'd want to get one too!

...my guess is this is your first vehicle and you are pretty young/inexperienced with cars...

Welcome to the world of mechanical things that break and you have to fix... :icon17:

This is nowhere near the first problem I've had with this car. It only has 13K miles. And I'm 40 years old.

still does not justify condemning the whole nissan brand, sure you are entitled to your opinion, but personally i've owned 2 altimas and now my Z and have never had a problem with any of them mechanically. little things here and there maybe that were solved by just keeping up on maintenance and one blown power window motor that was replaced no questions asked, but other than that every nissan i've had has been solid. sorry for your problems with your Z, but keep the brand hate to a minimum please.

P.S.

i along with everyone else on this forum acknowledge that the whole intelligent key debacle is a known problem that nissan should have definitely looked into a long time ago for sure :)
