Wow, insane.
That's an insane amount of money. That's like if you had a DUI or something insane. Hope you can figure out a way to lower it.
Anyway, here is a thread that will give you a better idea of how much people are paying and how much it varies. http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-g...ighlight=bonzo

My insurance is about 4 grand also . I'm only 19 though, albeit without any tickets or accidents. I also have the good student discount and everything. They quoted me for about 2 for a Mustang though. I am not sure the reasoning behind the price difference.

probably because the Z is only a 2 seater making it a "true sports car" in the insurance companies book even though the 5.0 could get you into even more trouble..

It is all about age..
Younger male drivers will race and drive faster on the streets... Don't ask how I know this..But it is so true.. Experience means nothing at all..It is the instant willingness to race and go 100mph plus.. The insurance company knows this..You can talk about your racing experience, track time, blah, blah, blah.. I was young once and never , ever, drove slow.. Now at 52 with a 420HP pro touring Hot rod, i built it for track racing, and i will not race on the street because i own my Home, and have a large portfolio...I would not risk those just to beat someone at the stop light..They laugh and think they beat me...I didn't race..I won the game of life and live large.. i do not want to give it away in a lawsuit. And then ther is the mortality factor...I have been near death, and i know that I could kill innocent people if i race. When i was young, the cars on the freeway were my orange cones at the autocross.. In and out between them at 100mph plus, not any more.. So, it is age...first...then add in all the other stuff and you pay more than i pay for all three of my cars...two are high performance.

To the OP, dont feel so bad, i was paying $5300 a year but that was with 1 accident and 2 tickets and i was 23 at the time. My SRT-10 Ram was 2000 a year and now the EvoX is 2300 a year. No tickets, no accidents and im 25 now.

I pay just under $1000 full coverage. So it's comparable to what our friends to the south of us are paying.

Insurance companies simply have some type of mathematical algorithm for assessing risk of loss. There is usually large variations between companies as they each weigh different risk factors differently. Try another company and you might find a shockingly large variation.
They also don't care about your "experience" over those in your same category. You are going to be pooled with 20-somethings that have never driven and the same ages with lots of road experience. |

I just bought my used Z recently and its costing me LESS per month to insure the 201 370z then it is to insure my 2008 Ford Escape or the 1996 BMW 328is.
Go figure! |

According to our forum, 2/3 of all the Z drivers here are under 40 years old. I think you are confusing the Z with a vette? |

Unless you're like that one 19 year old kid who killed his passenger in an MR2...while racing against a pick up....on a long and straight street. Then you don't have to worry about insurance because you're now screwed. http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2012/...street-racing/ btw, the passenger was his own sister.
