Have you seen Factory Five's Type 65? http://www.factoryfive.com/kits/type.../what-you-get/ It can be built for a bit less. Same type of thing based on Daytona Coupe. Generally they put in a Ford motors. I'd bet a new 2012 Shelby Motor will make it to one soon. I'm sure you could install a LS7 however. That is a car I was considering building. The wife says next car has to be a kit car for me. I've done just about everything else at this point and have the tools to do it.... So, why not. It's just a bunch of hours that I could use racing or boating so I'm not dedicated yet. It would outperform the Z and the Z can keep me happy until then so, really why not? Talking myself into it.

Nissan Z - 1969
Porsche 911 - 1963 (but really, let's start with the 356... ~1948)
Corvette - 1953
Honda S roadsters - Starting in 1963

The only other car I would add to that list is the 1963 split window Corvette. it has to be split window, not convertible.

I felt that way and then I got an S2000. It doesn't have the power but it's just a little go kart. Even the Cayman S didn't feel as good.

A nice used Cayman, a used 911 for under 40k always seemed to be either very old or had issues. Other cars were a Dodge Charger STR8 (was just a bit too much) and a Mustang (didn't care for the gauge cluster).

Before getting the Z? Nothing

Z was on my mind all day long. Honestly, if I didn't get the Z and was looking new, I would have gotten a much cheaper car, Subaru Imprezza or an A3 to get around.

Now that I've gotten back into a car that performs well, I sometimes get thinking that a used NSX would be cool if I didn't have the Z.

In this order I guess
2011 Audi A5
2011 Subaru WRX
BMW 335i coupe
used Cayman S
5.0 mustang
Genesis coupe
S2000
The Z provided a great blend of all those.

Started looking (back in 2010 after my last kid was out of college). Given the intent was this was to be my "play" car, I initially was looking at getting a used 370z. Also looked at used Z4s but found them to be uncomfortably small as well as overpriced. Got surprised when my wife suggested we might as well buy a new 370z so found myself with a new 2010 370Z Roadster.

I looked at a Camaro and a Challenger prior to purchasing the Z. I haven't looked back on my decision.

'11 STi, '11 Mustang GT. Ended up also getting the '11 STi.

Now considering Audi TTRS, next model Cayman R, or next model Lotus. That won't be for a couple years though.
