What other car would you have considered?

Very briefly considered a genesis coupe 3.8 until I sat in it and walked around it up close at a dealership. I quickly realized the Gen was a settling car

Very briefly considered a genesis coupe 3.8 until I sat in it and walked around it up close at a dealership. I quickly realized the Gen was a settling car for me and I was out to get the car I really loved, not to settle. I briefly thought about a G but realized it didn't wow me either and they're EVERYWHERE in southern California.

If I was looking now, I might test drive a 5.0 just to see, but it suffers from being on every corner just like the G so I would still get a Z.

To be honest I am always a big fan of BMW's //M badges been looking to get a Z4 M or a 2003 e34 //M. I believe the BMW is a better driver but the Z.... It's just wanna make you say UUU...UuuuMMMM! Sweet!

Lexus IS350, but the one I was going to take a good look at was about to be taken on a test-drive by somebody else. Also the fact that the same body style has been out since I believe '06 and they are about due for a redesign. I didn't want to have a brand new old model. And, as Bruce said, I would have settled for that instead of getting something truly unique and less seen on the streets even in SoCal.

I almost bought a GTR. Then after looking at it, crunching some numbers and realizing that I would never track that expensive of a car. All I could think of is how big a waste of money it would be for me. Plus, I would scared to death of wrecking it or getting a door ding.

Took a step back and looked at the 370Z at the same time as the GTR and realized I just like the 370Z better as a daily driver. Calculated the insurance gas mileage and price savings and realized I could buy a C6 Grand Sport with the savings in a year or two if I bought a 370Z now. So, I pulled the trigger and realized that it was one of the best decisions of my life. Looking forward to buying that C6 Grand Sport too.

Don't get me wrong ... I love the GTR it's just not $70K+ better in my mind than a 370Z. Do you realize a GTR cost almost triple the price of a Z. Yeah, there are a lot of cars out there that can beat the 370Z 0-60, 1/4 mile etc... But, as far as fun factor the 370Z ranks up there with the very best of them.

I don't do as many 0-60 dashes on the street as I used to. I have a track car that will blow away my Z so what's the sense?

Lastly, I'm partial to the Z because I've owned so many in the past that it was just meant for me to have another as far as I can tell. I love the quality, realiability and performance it gives for the dollars spent. The interior is much nicer than my 350Z. Not that I disliked my 350Z interior; just that the 370Z's interior (once you blackout out the fuel gauge) looks very today.

The best "toy" of all time is the Daytona Sports Car coupe. Fitted with LS7 engine, they are as quick as a V8SuperCar ....

I'd pull the trigger, but I currently have too many projects on the go ....

None. The only reason i traded my murano was because i got the itch to get a z.

any other sports car i would be looking at woud have my insurance jacked up regardless... with the Z tho? it was destiny so NO!

however i do Admire: The GT-R, NSX, any Ferrari, any Lambo, Porsche, and of course....the Vette. have to include that
Whats your insurance company?

I think z owners are a frugal bunch. Personally i love the value im getting with this car, its a part of the allure for me. I dont consider myself cheap by any means i just love getting a lot of value for my hard earned money. If i can combine that with one of the best looking cars ive ever seen and a car with a serious fun to drive factor i consider it all a win win win type of situation.

I get what you're saying, but go take a read of the thread that asks "how much have you spent in mods?" I'm not sure frugal is the right term.

As far as a GT-R, I think it is a fantastic car and value, but it's just too big for me. One of the things I disliked the most about my G37S was that it was so big.

I started driving in the mid 70's in a string of original Civics, a Scirocco, and eventually a couple of Gen I RX-7's. Light and nimble are attractive traits to me. While no light weight by any means (due mainly to safety and creature comforts), the Z is still a pretty nimble car.

When I bought my Z I was also looking at the Corvette and Cayman S. I briefly looked at the 2010 Mustang but at that time they were still using the 4.6 and hadn't totally worked out their suspensions yet.

It came down to the Cayman S and the Z. I liked the build and handling of the Cayman better, but thought the Z won in looks and value. It was very close in everything else so I felt like it was the best buy and am glad I went with it.

I've always had wood for Z cars so in reality, none.

The only other car that would interest me is the Cayman (S) (with comparable specs). Though the thought that it's not a real Porsche (not a 911) would bug me.

That bugged me too. If I was going to spend the money on a Porsche I want the 911! I'm a nostalgic ************. I love cars with history. They are the only ones I buy or want to buy!

Mustang - 1964 1/2
Nissan Z - 1969
Porsche 911 - 1963 (but really, let's start with the 356... ~1948)
Corvette - 1953
Honda S roadsters - Starting in 1963
