Another thing to consider, which has been extensively covered in a search, is that there is diminished returns on your breathing mods. The gen 3 CAI may make 20 hp on its own, but if you plan to do a CBE and HFCs/LTHs, it's going to make a lot less at which point it may or may not (your call) be the best choice for the money. If you know for sure you are going to do a CBE, then consider that the CAI will only add another 8hp or so on top of that and maybe less if you are also doing HFCs or LTHs. The same can be said for any of the other mods, though in relation to the order they are installed. It depends on which mods are more important to you since the following ones will have less gain for the money.

^that is true. Get an exhaust/HFC or LTH first. the stock intake is pretty good already. The stock exhaust on the 370z makes me sad

Yeah, I'm sorry, I forgot to mention that. Pretty much what ever mod you get first will be the highest gaining one. The others will only compliment it. So if you get
CAI' @ 17.5hp
LTH @ 20hp
CBE @ 19hp

you will probably make somewhere around 40-45hp total. Me personally, I like modding the car, and I love the way it the CAI's look in the engine bay. Without them it just seems plain and empty. And a selling point to my wife is that if I didn't spend the money on my car, I would probably be spending it on coke and strippers

Just don't do the whole gold rims... that's been so over-played. GL with everything!

Lmfaaaaoooooo "coke and strippers"
Dude my girl be spazzing on me when I spend money with car parts.
Well I have no clue what "TLE/TCT/DHL" and all those letters are but I like some sound. The exhaust on the Z makes me cry. I don't understand why they'd never put that G37 sound on the Z. That sounds makes me get hard.
But I want some extra HP, so when these BMW kids pull up I can make em go O.o. And I also wanna work on it so I can learn the mechanical part of a car a bit more

Some people just like to do the drop in filters from K&N with the stock air boxes, or to add the Z1 post MAF silicone tubes. That all comes up to about $200, and is a pretty good setup. The thick silicone tubes keep the cold air colder, insulating it from the engine bay temps. And the drop in filters flow pretty well. The downside is that the filters let a bit more dirt into the engine, and the stock boxes are still in the engine bay, so your not getting the absolute coldest air possible. All in all, for $200 it is a very good setup.

I have not seen any dynos for this setup, so I don't know for sure about what kind of gains you will be getting with this setup, but I would venture a guess of around 10ish hp.

However, if you're anything like me, you want the best. I would be unhappy to have a cai that made 14hp, and I find out there's one that makes 20hp, that's gonna stick in the back of my mind. Every time I see someone with the nicer one I'm gonna be totally jelly. So I did my research and finally settled on the Stillen Gen 3's.

The good points are that it's a long tube design that sucks up nothing but the coldest air from inside the front bumper. There's also a DIY thread floating around here on how to duct more air too the filters for another 2ish hp very cheaply and easily. They have proven dyno gains of 17.5 hp, and I can definitely tell a difference in the butt dyno. It also gives a great new growl sound at WOT. And it's made by Stillen, which has been synonymous with Z cars for a long time now.
The only downsides I can think of are:
1. Installation is a bit more complicated than the others with some cutting involved.
2. About every 15,000 miles you have to takeoff your front bumper to clean the filters
3. They are the most expensive of the cai's at a little over $500 new. That being said, you can find used ones here from other users for around $300 to $400 all day long.

So the bottom line is, yes cai's make good gains, it all just comes down to how much you are willing to spend. Some people don't want the absolute best, the just want something nice. There are plenty of options out there for you, and the drop ins with maf tubes are good. But in my opinion, and the opinion of a lot of other users on this forum, the Stillen G3's are the best.

Sent from my iPizzle using magic and new fangled science stuff.
yeah i like the best too bc otherwise i be thinking about the best one that i could have but i don't. and i hate that feeling... but i was wondering to buy a used stillen G3... i was considering... but since you mentioned. why it isn't good? i was thinking to get used ones but buy the new intakes. new intakes but used intake pipes (if that makes any sense)

You're already faster than any 328 and unless the 335 has a tune, you should be slightly faster than them too. If you want sound (and HP), I recommend the Fast Intentions exhaust. Look up some videos for sound clips.
As for all the acronyms

CBE = catback exhaust
LTH = long tube headers
HFCs = high flow catalytic converters
CAI = cold air intake
