Default Does the 370Z scream "HIT ME" while parked?

In the last 2 months I've been hit 3 times! First was a hit and run in my work parking lot, my front right got totally rashed. No contact / insurance info was left behind. The second was three days after the first incident in the post office parking lot where a Chevy pick up backed up into me. This was a blessing in disguise as he hit me in the exact same place where I was originally hit. His insurance paid for all the repairs. The third and last was again, the front right corner. This time is a 4-5 inch long scratch running towards the tire well.

When I park my car, no matter where I am I always ensure I'm centered in the parking spot I choose. I take every precaution including parking away from the higher traffic areas. I don't know what else to do other than leave a piece of paper scotch taped to my window saying:

PLEASE DON’T HIT MY CAR. YOU MAY NOT LIKE YOUR CAR, BUT I LOVE MINE!

Any other suggestions?

That sucks. A lot of people just don't care - look at the condition of their cars.

I remember a guy on Autopia that was a little whacked about his car (It's a cleaning site, a lot of OCD people). He carried cones and caution tape with him wherever he went and roped off his car so people would say away from it. He also had these big inflatable bumpers that hung from the window sills (think inflatable pool raft) to protect the doors just in case someone got inside the caution tape. Everyone thought he was just joking @ first then realized that it was really the way the guy parked. And it wasn't like it was a Veyron or something, just an average car.

I remember seeing that thread, it made me feel much more normal... Although I will admit I have contemplated buying one of those inflatable car bubbles with an air/humidity filtration system to park my car in.

Do like me, park away from everyone else or find a spot with a median/walk way on the right side. Leaves just the chance of only your driver's side door getting hit.

That's what I do. I also make sure to keep my car cleanly parked in one spot. It drives me nuts when I see some a-hole park diagonally taking up two spots, that's just asking for trouble.

OP, sorry to hear about your bad misfortunes.

Nothing wrong with this if you're parking at the very very back where no one else will park.

I think some people intentionally park their car using two spots to insure there is a larger space on each side of their car. I have been guilty of it on some occasions, but only because there aren't any good open spots.

But then again its better to park far away and have the peace of mind than park in a highly congested area and worry about your car being dinged. If all else fails use the double space method.

This doesn't always work. My Dad babies his car. He went to Walmart last week and parked it 25 spots away from the nearest car and as close as he could get to a curb. As he's coming out he sees some idiot do a donut in the parking lot and clip is front bumper. They stopped for a second and took off. The only way to 100% avoid dings is to leave your car in the garage. Which honestly I do most of the time specifically to avoid these things happening. But I still know it's only a matter of time before an idiot gets me, too.

Yes it screams hit me. While washing her this weekend, I noticed someone hit my passenger side with their door and left a pretty deep scratch. I park away from anyone when I can and try not to take her out too much.

yah, some cars are born with this bad nature.... i had a car once over a decade ago where it would get hit constantly in parking lots. like almost every month i would find dents, scratches, dings, more scuffs, etc.

i sold the car within a year. just got fedup with the repairs.
