Driving all the time in sport mode?
I was just wondering if everyone drives in sport mode all the time like I do? I have no idea if this is bad or not for the car or if anyone knows anything different. How do you guys drive in sport mode or in normal mode?

ill pick mine up in a few days. ill probably use the paddles most of the time. got the 100k warranty so not too worried, but i assume if they put it on the car it will function without limitation.

My car does not have a sport mode. It has the sport package and a syncro-rev match transmission. The latter is engaged by a button with an 'S' on it. I assume that is what you are asking about?
I use the SRM about 50% of the time but you could use it all the time. |
When I first got it I used to keep it off most of the time, I was still used to the standard working of a manual tran. But now a year later I keep it on almost all the time. I don't see much issue with it causing any mechanical problems on or off except that with it on it will always perfectly match revs probably reducing some wear on the clutch.

very rarely go into auto mode. No problems so far at 25k

Does he mean VDC off?
|
I assume he is talking about automatic transmission, when you use the paddles or shifter to "manually" change gears.
|
I am talking about the S-mode button that you can turn the synchro-rev matching on and off with. I drive with it on all the time. Although I do a good bit of driving with VDC off as well! :driving:

No harm to trans, but the ECU learns your shift behaviors and will attempt to reproduce them in regular auto mode. Thus, tends to shift a bit rougher in auto after controlling them in manual. |
I usually drive with it off. I highly doubt it will cause any damage to drive with it on 100% of the time.

I have the 7AT and I drive it in manual mode around 90% of the time. If I had the manual, I'd probably leave it with SRM on, too. I feel like that would be better for the transmission since it would match the revs and eliminate any shock from a mismatched shift.

jordo, do you mean in the 7AT the ECU learns your habits when you "paddle" shift? but why would it shift rougher in automatic mode? wouldnt it just shift according to the rmp shift points you had been manually shifting at just as smoothly as it was before? sounds like something is wrong if its getting rough?
|
I think I've turned off S-mode twice since I purchased the car 2 months ago. Outside of that, its always on.

I drive in D until optimal oil temps are reached.
