Driving all the time in sport mode?

SRM on all the time now. Just have to push it over towards 5/6 sometimes to save some gas (if braking etc)

I drive in regular auto mode most of the time. Only time I put it manual shifting, is when getting onto a highway once in a while, then go straight back to Auto.

If I am coming to a clover leaf or up in the mountains, I put it into manual shifting just so there are no surprises mid corner and such. Helps keep it at the rpm I want as well.

It's shocking how many people have no clue what the OP is talking about. I thought I was the noob :P

I turned it off until I learned what it was (rev match) then I turned it on and left it on. No reason not to really, unless, as someone else pointed out, you want to do it yourself.

I leave it on all the time. I don't have previous experience heel-toe shifting and don't want to learn on this car. Also.. it does it perfectly for you..

I guess people want to turn it off to feel like they are a badass. It's kind of like why we have manual trans even though Automatic transmission is more technologically advanced and work is done for you.

I have enough of a connection with the car having a 6MT so I let the car do the perfect rev-matching for me and it still sounds great when it blips to the perfect RPM.

Yes. Maybe "rougher" is the wrong term -- I suppose I mean that if you are driving the car in a spirited manner, you tend to shift a bit less smoothly than the ECU might be programmed to operate the trans (i.e., stay in a given gear longer than the ECU would have). It adapts it's shift schedule to your driving habits, so it may seem to shift less smoothly than one might get used to in ato after driving around in manual mode.

"S" Mode is on ALL THE TIME since I picked up the car last April. Almost 9500 miles so far with absolutely no issues. I know many friends with 370's that have been driving with the S mode since '09 and '010 - again, absolutely no issues.

Since the title of this thread is misleading. I am curious is there a sport mode on the 7AT's as a few have posted about their dealings with shift points. I am assuming they just mean when they put it in manu-matic mode and can bump the shifter or use the paddles as being "sport" mode? Or is there a button like on the 6MT labeled S-Mode for synchrorev matching?

There is no S Mode on the AT's as Synchro-Rev is for revving the engine when using the clutch downshifting or upshifting on the manual tranny. The OP was referring to the "S" button on the right side of the shifter, not to VDC or AT's as evident by his later post ...and yes, the paddle shifters on the AT's are what constitutes "Sport" mode if you will as you can shift up or down manually (to a certain extent - the computer has to agree with your shifting...!)

Synchro rev does two things: minimize clutch/gear wear with smoother shifts and consume more gasoline, especially with gate checks. I still leave it on all the time mainly because it starts up "on"
