They swear that one car is better because it is a Chevy or a Ford... I have always loved the Mach 1's, and the Challenger T/a's, and the Camaro's since childhood. I am not changing now... I do wish that the new Camaro had fashioned itself after the Second Gen, and not the first Gen, but that is personal choice. But I do love the Mustang's and the Challenger's...And the ZL-1's.. And the Corvette's, and the AMG's , and......and.....and....

I like the old muscle cars also. The Mustange I like is the big 1970 Fastback. Eventhough it looks heavy and bulky I like it.

My Challenger does triple duty as a drag strip car (too heavy for road course work), show car, and a weekend cruiser and it does ok. If I had it to do over again, I might have gotten a Mustang instead, but the 5.0 wasn't even on the radar when I bought the Challenger. The Challenger is so heavy it has taken a boat load of horse power to make it fast, as well as good tires. Mustangs are easy. I originally wanted a Camaro, and went in to buy one sight unseen in 2009, but they wanted to mark them up and all that crap, so I bought the Challenger instead. Went back a year later to buy a Camaro too, and test drove it...didn't care for it. Now I'm eye balling a 2013 GT500 as a Challenger play mate. |

But at 3.6% apr, and with the cash I have for a healthy down payment, I have to roll the dice.. Party at Mike's house if I get it... If I don't , I still have a nice home and a 4.5% loan, so all is good..

You are right on there..My Track weapon is my 1971 Z/28.. I put about 30K into it, but I did have a High end Builder do the work and the set up. It is a weekend warrior and never a daily driver.. Also that money included some crazy Rims and a completely new fuel system, exhaust system, and more. So ya, 20K would have been right if I did not do all the extra's, but they were 40 years old...Now all the underneath is new, and if I break it, no biggy. Speedy, you are right on there..

My ZL1 will be a track car, weekend driver and car show vehicle. I have a DD and like to spoil myself with this toy. Good luck again on the house Bucket. I'd love to do a west coast swing and meet up with ya. I think pics of our cars together would be very kewl. Oldschool and newschool track cars.

So happy Wife, happy Life.. But if you are west coast bound someday, look me up...My old school with 3.73 gears and a 4 speed won't be doing much long distance driving.. If it wasn't a real Z/28, I would put an LSX and a 6 speed, but I cannot change the number;s matching drive line.. So it is going to be a short distance cruiser..

My buddy just bought a 69' Z28 95% finished for $24K. All he has to finish is the interior which was included with the car new in boxes. That's the way to do it. He sold a 2008 Z06 and took a $30K hit...he said never again will he fool with a newer car. The Camaro will appreciate instead of depreciate. Here's some of the Challenger: |

Supercharger Speedy...
Nice pictures... Sweet Car.... I see the Drag Tires on the back...Serious business there... Thanks, I love my car and what I have done, is done right.. I still have things to do on the inside, but it is Track ready for the Autocross or the road course... Your friend did a good thing.. Cars are not selling for what they used to ,due to the economy...It is still a soft market, and he got a great deal...It will only go up from here..

Thanks. It's a fun and very comfortable car. I've gotten it to run 11.19s at 125 - 128 in the quarter. Gets 20 city and 24MPG hwy to boot.
Dodge's are just so hard to work with though. Very little after market support and the tuning is a major PITA. For 2011 and up they've encrypted the PCM so no tuning AT ALL on those. Dodge are a bunch of idiots and really pissed off the enthusiast community. |

My first step was to do the brakes and the suspension, ect...You know, do the right steps first and then go back to the engine ...The car is now set up for massive HP with the subframe connectors, ect... So now with a full Hotchkis set up and massive Willwoods, ect.., I am looking to S/C my LT-1 .. It has the flattops and bulletproof parts, so I may try the 125HP charger..I need more HP to run with the new cars.. And I want to leave the factory Corvette engine since I have all new exhaust and MSD parts.. If not a S/C, then higher compression and a bigger cam...Running a comp cam 280H now, but it only runs low to mid 13's..@ 108. I now know the car will handle much more HP.. It will never get good gas mileage unless I go with an LS. I have dreams of a new style ZR-1 or ZL-1 engine, but that would take a wad that I should not spend..It would not be financially smart... But I spent my camaro wad of money for now... The wife had a paid off 350Z, but since I went crazy on my car, I had to put 20K down on the 370Z to make the payments low... Happy Wife, Happy Life.. So went the Interior money and my HP boost...
