Let me see, you work for the General in 'Shwa? I agree with your comment, btw.

Neither the MPH, nor the 12.3 are anywhere near indicative of a 3.5 second 0-60 in a RWD vehicle of 4100#. Look at the CTS-V. Same engine, same weight (within a few hp/within a few #). You don't see them running 0-60 in 3.5 seconds, slicks or not. |

Plus, my comment about the Factory's productivity and quality are fact. However, while the General can deliver a great vehicle(s), the after purchase service is horrendous.

So far, Nissan has been a worse experience for me than GM was, regarding after the fact treatment. Of course, I bought a corvette, not a camaro, and that came with a visit to the factory and the plant manager's personal cell # (and I was remembered by name when I called him a few weeks after my visit for some help). You won't get that from ANY other company other than perhaps Koenigsegg/Veyron or something.

No matter how good the value of the ZL1 or how good is the production plant, you still have to wait until they start assembling it... and get a ORDER# from the dealer. Ask Mr.Fire, he still have no idea when will he get a order# since he place an order more than a month ago.... |

So what is your bad experience now convert? Unfortunately the Z doesn't come with any special treatment. What makes it special is the people who love them. As far as you going through what you went through in the ordering process. That was something you saw a lot of us go through for years. You been here long enough to know buying Z's isn't easy. The windshield thing? Well that could happen on any car. Has nissan treated you poorly? What haven't they done? |

Since it crossed your mind at all I would say go get the Chevy. The real question is not whether or not it's a better car than the Z it's a matter of you not being satisfied with your Z or, as some might see it, not being loyal to the Z brand. If you're not happy then by all means continue the search.

Nissan has already comped me a 2/30k maintenance program because a tech scratched the underside of the sill on my car putting it on the rack. Their excuse? "Oh, you know them low ridings cars." Fail. Manager apologized and compress me a service program. Meh. It's a car and it will get scratches, but new? In service? No thanks. (The rockers are not available pre painted, so replacement is a no go.) What did gm do when a similar issue arose on my z06? The plant manager himself pulled a new, oem $1800 fender off the line and sent it immediately to my dealership and the owner himself apologized. The z06 had, and I don't know how or when, a slightly cracked fender. 1/4", but could spread. This is how gm handled it. Nissan can't do that. I don't even have a clue who runs the z plant even. The bottom line is that Nissan is across the pond and you are just sol in America. Gm is here and can do something. That said, its the corner/underside of the rocker panels, so ill just live with it. Road trash may or may not have the same effect ib a few years, anyway. Last edited by ImportConvert; 03-11-2012 at 12:27 AM. |
