I say go for it. My girlfriend when we first started dating had a 06 C6 3LT package Vette. Yes my Z had better interior if you were to stare at it and think about it. But I tell you, the 2.5 years that I drove it I was too busy enjoying the cars performance to ever be worried about the interior. I mean it's not like it lacks amenities, it's just cheaper used materials. Then again, I'm not a huge snob about interiors either and really don't car too much as long as it's decent. I mean people bitch about the interior of the Camaro too but my girlfriends 2010 Camaro 2ss doesn't leave me desiring something more. And again, driving the car I'm enjoying the cars performance far too much to be worried about the hard plastic dash.

To each their own. If interior matters that much to you then the Vette is a bad choice; but otherwise I say get it. I really enjoyed the Vette while she had it. So much so I almost got one myself last year. Now I keep considering a grand sport but right now I'm still really enjoying my Z so I keep holding off.

I too plan to wait until the C7 to make the jump but one thing to consider is that the first 1-2 years are probably going to be cars you don't want to own. Statistically first year cars have kinks that need to be worked out. The C6 Vette is a good example of this with regards to the targa top issues and rear diff issues. So keeping that in mind you'll be waiting another 4 years or so before getting your Vette. Or you could jump on this used one and enjoy it for a bit until the C7 has proved it's self. Just a thought.

You want a C6 Z06? Well...think about the tires, lol. $2K a set.
Did I mention anything about a Z06? I said a Z51 Vette, dude.

Brakes/tires wouldnt make me want to go down to a C5. I'll take a C6 Z51 over a C5 Z06.

The c5 z06 is slightly faster than a c6 z51, but c5 is sort of ugly imo

A lot of my buddies had Corvettes, mostly Z06 2008 and up. They're fast cars with that nice 427 motor, but I was never impressed with the quality at all. They begged me to get one and I actually found a year old Z06 at Carmax for $48K (this was back on 09).

I passed, just not my style and bought the Challenger instead. It also seems like you buy a Vette you instantly become a poor driver .

Its more along the lines of, I feel the LS3 is a better platform to start with, than the LS6 is.

And yes, I feel the C5 is uglier than the C6.

And yea ls3 would make up for the lack of tires on the c6. I was comparing ls2

I am very happy with the 370z prior to buying it I test drove all the high performance cars out in the $30-$55K and negleted to test drive the Z as I really wanted a V8 with 400hp plus, that is why I passed on test driving the 370z with only a V6 and 330hp.

I had test drove a challenger rt 375 hp and it was really a dog, but after driving the 370z I was sold on it, it just has to much classic styling, taste, refinement, and technical features that the american cars just don't have.

While I do sometimes regret not buying the 2012 vette, it goes away fast once I look at the 370z or drive it.

I've owned 2 corvettes in my life a 1987 C4 and a 2002 Z06 ( bought from a friend who was going thru a messy divorce and I basically stole it for what he sold it to me for).

I sold the Z06 a few years later, got tired of it with new yorks long winters and the C4 i puchased used for $9k with only 25k mles on it, body was perfect , but the interior needed some work. I basically learned a lot about corvettes working on this C4 and how poorly constructed and shitty materials chevrolet used to put them together. If you wonder why old corvettes rattle and make more noise than some babies toys rattles at 30k plus miles, its because a lot of the plastic mounting flanges on major assemblies are starting to crack or break away. The worst of these on my C4 was the main dash board mounting flanges which, originally were a solid ring flange had now turned to a slotted U shaped brackets.

I basically became an expert in plastic welding, refinishing and epoxy repair on that corvette.

After fixing up the C4, I swore I would never buy another used corvette, the only reason I bought my friends , is because I knew the history of it.

One day I may buy another, but one thing you need to be sure of, it that you get the best factory extended waranty available with it, don't keep it to long yrs. or miles and never buy a used one unless you know the seller personally.

I did not watch my 370Z being built, while I did watch my Z06 built. I have seen pictures of the 370Z taken apart, etc. though. The Z06 is a much better built car in that it is WAY simpler than the 370Z and accomplishes the same tasks, regarding handling, etc. The only strike against the C6 is the transmission location necessitating a bit of outside the box mechanics.

The interior is where GM is so far inferior to Nissan. Driveline and chassis, the C6 is world-class.

Regarding 'vette's being maintenance whores, C5 and up really aren't. C4's were hell.

Anyway, after taking a look at the corvette today and a test drive on '08 base. I don't think that I am missing much at all. Maybe it was an '08 and a base used vette. My OP link will have to be transfer with a fee of $550.

After doing some research and visiting some forums, I decided to wait and see how 2014 C7 will look as well as performance. As for the time being, I love my Z and will keep an eye on a used vette... not to mention saving money. However, anything is possible
The only thing you are giving up is acceleration and repeated braking performance, there. Handling felt almost identical to me, although at high speed the corvette's longer wheel-base makes sweeping corners easier, while the 370Z makes better work of lower speed tight corners. JME.

Unless they made some changes to the non Z06 C6, I can tell you rear stability is a problem with that car. The car seems to dance around a lot more than the 370 once you hit near triple digits.

This is a rough difference between a 370z and a 400HP C6

^I know the base C6 is far more composed over rough pavement than the 370Z. Don't know how they compare on a track as I never tracked the 370.

Absolutely, the C6 has a much softer suspension that doesn't beat you up. Of course that also means the car leans quite a bit more than the 370. Overall handling I give a slight edge to the 370, but I think it's mainly because of the bigger tires I have on the Z. The C6 does have a better rear diff that allows for better corner exit.

I am telling you. On this forum you occasionally read about people dying from mainly car accidents, on the Corvette forum it is mainly old age. The track page is where you get good info, but then those guys are really hardcore.
