how much weight does the sports package add?
|
About 100
|
It looks like the Z has gained 13lbs at base manual. What year do these stats come from?

from what i can tell these weights are for the 2012 as back when i purchased my 2011 the base+sport curb weight was 3,232...looks like factory oil cooler added a bit of weight |
Unless your car is special, your car is not 3232lbs with the sport package. My car from the factory came in at 3350lbs and i have a crappy 09

Nissan's curb weight numbers are questionable at best. |

According to Car and driver a 2009 base sport 6spd weights in at 3370lbs but that's with all fluids topped.

Curb weight (US English) or kerb weight (UK English) is the total weight of a vehicle with standard equipment, all necessary operating consumables (e.g., motor oil and coolant), a full tank of fuel, while not loaded with either passengers or cargo.[1][2]

Ijust read this in Wiki... thanks. But I also read some companies have different methods of calculating this curb weight... I guess the best way to find out why there is a discrepency is to call Nissan and find out how do they calculate curb weight? |
Road & Track weighed the 370Z touring model at: 3425lbs curb weight. Nismo version is 3300lbs.
That 32xx # that Nissan uses or whatever isn't right. |

The "curb weight" meaning full fluids is what is used here in the U.S. So when comparing the weights of varies cars the "curb weight" is the correct weight to use NOT that 32xx obvious dry weight figure. Manufactures rarely ever list their cars "dry weight" so I'm not sure why Nissan decided to. Independent entities have all weighed the 370z well above 3300lbs because they weigh with full fluids (curb weight) as the vast majority of manufactures do. The 2012 GT-R's curb weight is 3965lbs in case anyone was wondering. According to Road & Tracks anyway which have proven pretty accurate in my experiences. It's amazing it can post the times it does with It's not so amazing power to weight ratio. It's AWD and auto-manual gearbox are beyond efficient at getting the power to the ground. |

Try getting it weighed at a: racetrack, weigh station, landfill, junkyard, shipping yard, etc. |
I did. My 09 is roughly the same weight as my 04. 50lbs heavier than my Corvette. 350lbs heavier than my RX-8. 250lbs heavier than my Prius. All were recorded with full fluids and full tank of gas. +-20lbs due to scales & maybe a little bit of gas burning off
|
Curb weight is curb weight there's no different method to measure curb weight.
The 3250lbs or whatever it is Nissan list is NOT the 370Z's curb weight. The true "curb weight" is between 3370-3425lbs depending on model and 3300lbs for the Nismo. Manufactures rarely ever list their cars "dry weight" as Nissan did with the Z (I guess they were trying to impress as much as possible but it's a bit deceiving) This isn't a big deal really because the road testers typically weigh them on their own. |
Brought back from the dead. As I have a question about this.
In Florida the tax/ tag fee which is renewed at birthdays is based on the car weight. Any reason why I am being charged for weight being over 3500 lbs? Automobiles (2,500 - 3,499 pounds) $22.50 Automobiles (3,500 or more pounds) $32.50 |

Even my bloated Nismo is under 3,500 lbs without driver / passenger. It could be worse though, apparently somebody owns a 300zx that weighs about the same as a Hummer according to Google's insanity: http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1424325473 |
Don't sit in it when they weigh it.

It could be that you are being charged for the vehicles "gross" weight. That is more common anyway especially for trucks.
|
I just looked at my Florida vehicle registration. My 2015 370z Nismo Tech 7AT is listed with a Net Weight of 3288 lbs. It is the heaviest 370z (coupe) model Nissan makes and it sits below the 3500 mark.
I would say you should get this looked into. |
They will reimburse you and probably charge you for postage and processing fee. Then you will end up waiting half a year for it to be fixed and having to pay for the 'extra service'

So are you paying $22.50 a year? |

I think you have answered my question, thanks. :tiphat: |

No, I have a university license plate (FGCU). http://www.polktaxes.com/images/spec...university.jpg I pay $21.98 for the registration, $3.00 county fees and then ~$50 for the custom plate. That works out to $75.00 a year. I am alright with that though, because the money funds a scholarship program at my alma mater. |
