200 in Texas, awhile ago they went on that whole "Click it or Ticket" campaign (may still be) which created an increase in the ticket price to help deter people from driving without a seat belt on.

He didn't radar you. He lasered you. (You said he was standing outside his car with a gun)

Radar is car mounted and fires in all directions, and the cruiser doesn't need to be stationary.
Laser is a hand held unit that must be aimed at oncoming cars from a stationary location.

It wouldn't matter if you had a radar detector, laser is instantaneous with little or no stray signaling.
ie. your radar detector would go off saying you got lasered... and then you get pulled over.

I recently took a 4kmile road trip with both a Passport 8500 and a V1 mounted side by side on the windshield.
I think the 8500 was under the back seat by day 2. It went off just as much as the V1... but with no indication of where the signal was coming from, it really didn't tell you much.

Arrows FTW.

PS. I think a brand new 370Z in "arrestmered" is just too tempting for cops to pass on. That's awesome that you got off with just a seat belt ticket and no points.

Yeah I've been seeing this "Click it or Ticket" commercial everyday on tv.

this is a little bit of a side rant, but even though I always wear my seatbelt, I can't stand that the government forces people to wear them. Not including kids, if you're a grown *** adult and dont want to put it in, who the eff is the government to tell you to wear it?

I was wearing my seatbelt when he had pulled over, never took the thing off the entire time. Maybe he felt obligated to write me up for something. Either way i'm not complaining one bit, i am going to check into the radar detector. I took a few shots of the ticket envelope, it has the breakdown of the fines. There back up on the first post.

This thread makes me want to look further into the radar thing. I have zero experience with them being from Virginia so I have a lot to research.

Probably because government workers got tired of cleaning up the brain matter on the roads.. It is ment to save your life, so why not wear it?

First, I wear my seatbelt every time. As does my wife and we believe it is a good example for our son.

With that said this is an example of the government forcing us to do something because they think it is best for us. The only person that can be harmed by me not buckling up is me. I don't believe we should allow our government to get in the habit of enforcing what they think is best for me when the choice is not infringing on anyone else.

Unless of course you have no health insurance and you survive the accident with permanent physical or mental disabilites. In that case it is the taxpayer that has to pay for your choice. Why should I have to pay for your $100k a year health costs for the next 30 years simply because you didn't buckle up?

Now I don't necessarily agree with mandated seat belt use, but I can understand the financial logic behind it. It should be a choice really. If you want to ride without a helmet or seatbelt that's fine, but you should automatically be a DNR and a whole body donor.

You got it! That's why it should be mandated. I see plenty of trauma patients in my line of work and we get a TON of unrestrained ejected patients and most of them have less than life ending injuries, we can keep the vast majority of people alive and we do and we spend millions and millions on this stuff. On it's still not okay to do if you have health insurance, that doesn't pay for all of it and the part it does pay for, we actually pay for because all of your premiums are going up to cover it. Stepping off soap box now. Buckle up folks!
