Default Ridiculous start/stop button question...

Something just occurred to me as I sat in the Z today to start her up. When I start the car I push in and hold the button until the engine starts. However when I turn the car off, I just push the button without keeping it depressed. Anyone else do this? I have no idea why I do this. Maybe it's a throwback conditioned action to turning an actual key and making sure the engine fires up?

On a side note, I STILL always catch myself letting the clutch out slowly completely defeating the purpose of my SRM. Lol... I guess old habits die hard. (even though I was heal/toeing in my Evo before this car)

Anyway...

I'm 23....

i learned to drive on my mom's 2002 Lincoln LS v8 (key)
my 'first' car was the last 4 months of my dads '05 lincoln LS v8 (Key)
After my mom's lincoln she leased an 05 m35x (push button)
after my dad's lincoln he bought a 2008 g35x (push button)
after my dad's lincoln i bought a 2008 altima coupe (push button)
after my mom's m35x she leased a 2009 g37x (push button)
after i got bored of my 2008 altima coupe i bought the 370z (push button)
3 weeks ago i bought a 1994 300zx twin turbo.... (push button... just kidding)

so as you can see, most of my driving has been done on push button start nissans.

I press the button for as long as it needs to be pressed, which isn't very long. tapping the button as long as the clutch is depressed is enough to start the car.

also of note: higher end cars have not required the operator to hold the key in ignition position (usually position #4 just past "ON") for a while. my step mom's last car was a 2000 BMW 740iL and all you had to do was just tap it into ignition and let go and the car would hold the starter circuit until it had fully started.

I held the button down for the first few engine cranks, but now I spend that cranking time with other things...like reaching for my shades and getting my tunes on!

Hmmm, you know...I haven't tried dumping the clutch on a downshift yet. Force of habit I suppose from too many years of driving manual trannies.

Eventually, you have to let go of it and clutch the steering wheel!

Don't mean to jack your thread OP, but SoCal, do you remember having to push the button to skip tracks, and the (*clunk*) we had to listen to as it switched sides?
