I drive a 2010 Genesis and I've gotten 14.113 stock at the 1/4 mile, even it being my first 3 runs ever. The new 2013 gen coupe is supposed to be a faster car, but that doesn't make it a better car overall. If you want a bigger car, and all you care about is hp and straightaway speed and you don't plan to mod much, then I'd go with the gencoupe. If you're looking to mod your car, I'd say go with the 370 because there's a lot more to offer for the 370 in the aftermarket department.

Don't ever ask people on the forum which car you should buy when you are the one who is paying and driving it. Go out and test drive each car.

Most of responses here is full of misinformation ... non has test drove 2013 genesis and they compare to the old Gen. - which is completely different car. New genesis is completely redesigned - frame, suspension, drive-train, trany, steering, interio and so on....

I sat inside of 370z and 2013 Gen and interior material quality is on same level, design is different, Z has more sporty design and Gen. has more luxury oriented design -G37 (after all Gen is made to compete with G37 and not 370Z...a cheaper option for G37)

Insideline test: 1/4-mile 13.6s @ 104.1 mph - can be quicker if traction fully off (they had esc on ). As far as handling - nothing that weights as much as Gen. will show incredible numbers with 225 tires in front....it needs 245 in the front just like Z.

If you need pure sports car - Z is probably better choice.
If you think you might need back seat now or in the future Gen. should be considered.
A equivalent optioned out 370Z cost $5,000 more which can get you a lot if you are modding.
Aftermarket is good for Gen -at least mods worth buying...all boltons are there, tunes, and soon F/i kits.

As far as comments that Nissan been building sports cars for ages and it is Hyundai's first sport car. No one reinvents the wheel....they buy /share with those who did it before....Hyundai been using Mitsubishi technology for over 15 years, all Hyundai engines started out as Mitsubishi engines (4g64, 4g63, 6g72... been used in Hyundai long ago) and eventual Hyundai reworked them into their own more reliable engines. Some of their transmissions are soursed from Nissan, including old auto AS5R1 used in Genesis.
(AS5R1 been used in many Nissan including Z).

For what its worth I drove the Genesis Coupe before I bought the Z. In fact the dealer let me have it all day and overnight..,quite generous of him..

The ride was awful except for the highways, so generally it was not pleasant to drive.

The damn thing absolutely would not rev below 4500 at 45 mph, and when I applied the brakes it shuddered and pulled to one side. The dealer said something about the brakes not being properly "ground"...And the transmission was obviously screwed up...but still, fair or not, this tells me something about the quality of the vehicle..

I know its unfair to judge by one experience but I get the feeling that the difference between Nissan and Hyundai is like the difference between a cheap suit and a good one..Both look fine at first but as you wear it, gradually the quality shows..

Nissan is a quality name with a solid history and the Z is a big part of that history. Why take a chance on a company that has a reputation of building cheap cars?
