Yeah but like I said I think he posted on this forum because he already wanted a Z
and you're right the 2013 Z has a friendly front bumper but honestly atleast the headlights look aggressive.. I mean look at the genesis. Can we please compare it to something more like a series 2 RX8?... |

But yes I hate the genesis look it looks like its doing a angry face on purpose, like trying to **** something out. :roflpuke2: |
I don't like the new Z's outlook nor do I like the new Genesis. OP look at your plans for the car. If you want a reliable car that you won't tinker with and will offer a great warranty, hard to deny the Genesis. Sure the build quality isn't as great but the warranty will cover the entire time you won the vehicle instead of the typical 3/36,000.
Also, I can say that I have rarely come across a good dealer warranty service story. Nissan dealers or at least the service departments don't have good press on this forum. The build quality and performance of the Z is leaps and bounds over the Genesis. Remember Nissan has been doing this for decades, Hyndai is still new to the game and its more than horsepower #'s on paper. The Z chassis is fabulous the interior is sporty, you know what this car was meant to do. Sure the Z has its issues, needs an oil cooler, lack of brake ducts for cooling, expensive esther oil, chunky manual gearbox (more of a preference than an actual issue). If you want to enjoy the driving experience the Z is the way to go, if you are more concerned with a fun ride and protecting your wallet get the Genesis. |
LOL I just want to know at what point hyundai released that car and said "yup, thats good. Let's price it as high as the Z and everyone will come running"
I mean the Z looks like its taking a sh** too but.. when your in first place I guess you can drop whatever you want behind. |

I was also in your position, drove a 3.8 track and just wasnt impressed with the power (at the time). I also had a bit of sticker shock when I saw a 30k sticker on a Hyundai. I agree with everyone here, the Hyundais have gone miles in the last 10 years and feel they will soon outsell Hondas and Toyotas in many areas if they keep up the great work. For here and now though, the Z edges it out in all of the great areas for me. Looks, power, sound, and its a chick magnet...not that my fiance wants more women in my car or anything....but you will make the right decision. Also note resale value, Hyundais are far behind a resale 370z right now. If you gave me a free Genesis, would I like it and drive it?? Sure! But if I am gonna put my hard earned money into one or the other, it has to be the Z.

2011 Z Touring with Sports for $34,500+TTL....a good deal?
|
Just picked up a 2010 for 27k out the door with 8100 miles on it.. one owner car fax. Base model... IMO thats the price of a 2012 if you negotiate well enough

Sorry to bump a semi old thread but when I drive my fiances Genesis Coupe I get waay more compliments/attention than any other car I have ever driven. Someone even asked me if it was a Bentley lol.

I drive a 2010 Genesis and I've gotten 14.113 stock at the 1/4 mile, even it being my first 3 runs ever. The new 2013 gen coupe is supposed to be a faster car, but that doesn't make it a better car overall. If you want a bigger car, and all you care about is hp and straightaway speed and you don't plan to mod much, then I'd go with the gencoupe. If you're looking to mod your car, I'd say go with the 370 because there's a lot more to offer for the 370 in the aftermarket department.

Don't ever ask people on the forum which car you should buy when you are the one who is paying and driving it. Go out and test drive each car.
Most of responses here is full of misinformation ... non has test drove 2013 genesis and they compare to the old Gen. - which is completely different car. New genesis is completely redesigned - frame, suspension, drive-train, trany, steering, interio and so on.... I sat inside of 370z and 2013 Gen and interior material quality is on same level, design is different, Z has more sporty design and Gen. has more luxury oriented design -G37 (after all Gen is made to compete with G37 and not 370Z...a cheaper option for G37) Insideline test: 1/4-mile 13.6s @ 104.1 mph - can be quicker if traction fully off (they had esc on ). As far as handling - nothing that weights as much as Gen. will show incredible numbers with 225 tires in front....it needs 245 in the front just like Z. If you need pure sports car - Z is probably better choice. If you think you might need back seat now or in the future Gen. should be considered. A equivalent optioned out 370Z cost $5,000 more which can get you a lot if you are modding. Aftermarket is good for Gen -at least mods worth buying...all boltons are there, tunes, and soon F/i kits. As far as comments that Nissan been building sports cars for ages and it is Hyundai's first sport car. No one reinvents the wheel....they buy /share with those who did it before....Hyundai been using Mitsubishi technology for over 15 years, all Hyundai engines started out as Mitsubishi engines (4g64, 4g63, 6g72... been used in Hyundai long ago) and eventual Hyundai reworked them into their own more reliable engines. Some of their transmissions are soursed from Nissan, including old auto AS5R1 used in Genesis. (AS5R1 been used in many Nissan including Z). |
For what its worth I drove the Genesis Coupe before I bought the Z. In fact the dealer let me have it all day and overnight..,quite generous of him..
The ride was awful except for the highways, so generally it was not pleasant to drive. The damn thing absolutely would not rev below 4500 at 45 mph, and when I applied the brakes it shuddered and pulled to one side. The dealer said something about the brakes not being properly "ground"...And the transmission was obviously screwed up...but still, fair or not, this tells me something about the quality of the vehicle.. I know its unfair to judge by one experience but I get the feeling that the difference between Nissan and Hyundai is like the difference between a cheap suit and a good one..Both look fine at first but as you wear it, gradually the quality shows.. Nissan is a quality name with a solid history and the Z is a big part of that history. Why take a chance on a company that has a reputation of building cheap cars? |
^^:iagree:
