So my dad spun out my Z today!

First of all, in a way i find it humorous because my dad is 52 and I'm...18? Shouldn't it be the other way around? Anyways, my dad have VDC off and he turned onto an on ramp towards the freeway and gave it a very small amount of gas and the wheels spun like crazy. We ended up on the side of the ramp in some rocks stuck on 2 bushes. And one was a stump stuck in the front left wheel well. It looked like a decent amount of damage at first but it isn't that bad thankfully. Also, there was no one on the ramp at the time and no cops showed up!

And just to put this out there; i'm not some kid with rich parents that bought me a Z either, I love my car to death and paid for every penny of it. I know what I can and can't do in that car via my experience. Makes me sad to see that it isn't exactly perfect anymore!

And I don't really understand why the beginning of the on ramps here look like they are concrete and half way down turn into asphalt, but I swear that stuff aided this incident. It is slippery as hell! :ughdance:

Literally tore the bush out of the ground to move the car.

The bumper ended up springing back into place with very minor imperfections.
Only thing is the end of the side skirt.

Sorry to see that conor1123, I hope you can get it fixed very soon!

I am curious, how small is that amount of 'gas' your dad put in at that moment to make the Z spun out and how fast the Z was travelling on the ramp?

No offense, just curious.

:hello:

I totally understand that curiosity haha. It may seem like he floored it due to what happened but he was going about 20-25mph maybe? I definitely didn't hear the engine roar at all and he had downshifted from third to second I believe.

A nice dad would offer to pay for a new body kit, like maybe the UAM CF Amuse to replace the damaged components!

Either way, the open diff probably didn't help your situation and VDC off usually ends like this! lol

Hope it all gets taken care of soon! Congrats on a nice 'first' car!

Hahaaa, good that you understand. LOL

Maybe the downshift caused the spun.

Like whee! said, time for new bodykit!!

And now I know! :eekdance: Thankfully not much at all, could have been way worse! I have no idea what it costs to get something like that fixed. But to be honest now I want new skirts!

thing is, he shouldve been less likely to spin out with the base model open diff your car came with. SHoulda just been a whole lotta inside wheel spin

kfscoll 02-12-2012 04:18 PM

Why the hell did he have VDC turned off?

DCNISMO 02-12-2012 04:20 PM

Why was VDC off? It's there for just that purpose.

Unique_Z 02-12-2012 04:25 PM

It hurts me seeing another Z got hurt..but as Whee said you better off buy a new body kit. the CarbonSignal's or UAM's amuse is a good start  put the LSD aside and fix the exterior first.

He just turned it off. I have no idea why but he underestimated the power even know he drives it almost every day at least once. :shakes head:
