Ya, sorry about that. My post was supposed to have mentioned if he had been saving since like 15 or so, then it would come out to around $20k. I guess my brain got ahead of my typing.

Nothing quite yet. Debating on buying some new side skirts or seeing how much of it they can fix.

I think the Z is a lot of car for your average 18 year old. So I find humor in that his dad is the one who lost control. Also, I have friends who grew up karting since they could reach the pedals, and I'd guarantee they're more skilled drivers than most people who've only driven on the road.

I'm used to seeing the kids at the local HS leave campus in some pretty amazing cars, easily in the 30-40k range. How he can afford it is moot.

Sucks about your car, but at least every time your Dad knocks your driving skills, you can say "hey, remember when you trashed my practically spotless Z"?

I dont understand why anyone would drive with the VDC off except on a race track..I mean what is the point and how do you discover you are not capable?

Once wrapped around a tree Driving with VDC off doesn't always equate with driving recklessly. The driving experience with it off is... much more rewarding.

"I don't always drive with the VDC button off, but when I do .... " XX

There was a time when cars didn't come with VDC. Or even computers for that matter. So what's to understand? I've been to the track so far with this car 4 times. I know well the cars limits and believe me, when you want to put the power down in either an emergency situation or just having fun and the car bogs out because of the VDC, you'll be kicking yourself.

You discover capability at the track. I don't recommend finding it on the street. Hey, driving with the VDC off isn't for everyone I guess. And that's ok.

Edit: I'm just so sick and tired of the stupid mention of VDC whenever someone spins out or hits something. If you got there in the first place, VDC probably wasn't going to help you anyway.
