Thankfully your dad and you were not injured and from the look of it, things look minor at best and wouldn't cost much to fix. I wouldn't chew up or let others chew up on your father for this incident.

What I would be actually worried is how and why the car spun out at only 20-25mph (you said you didn't hear any engine roar); you might want to check your tires. I sometimes take ramps at 40/50mph and never spun out or felt like I was going to lose it.

Coulda been the uneven pavement, lifted one wheel a bit, open diff spun the tire, tire came down, bit hard and spun the car...

yup. VDC. It's there for a reason! lol

but I would definitely be looking in to an aftermarket lsd for your ride! I hate open diffs!

Excellent question!! There is NO REASON WHATSOEVER..to have the VDC turned off if you are driving anyplace other than a race track or trying to free yourself from snow. or heavy sand...,He should buy you a brand new one..

seriously, the open diff should have been LESS likely to cause a spin in this situation since it would not have sent power to the outside rear wheel

^^this. plus everyone makes mistakes, and possibly it's some road pebbles that your dad hit..

Of course! He said sorry a million times, he was panicking and didn't really know what to do. The thread title may have come off a little rough. Probably because I was a little upset at the time.

Conor, I would feel more than upset if a relative hit my car. Thank goodness you were moving at a good speed for the ramp. He must feel really bad for the incident and surely will make it up to you ;)

He told me hes going to glue the VDC button on haha! And hes gonna drive it grandma style! :icon17:

It actually doesn't look so bad, looks like you got lucky. I'm glad you can laugh about it now, because it's definitely going to be one of those things you can always bust the old mans chops about :D

dusty roads def can aid to unwanted wheel spin. i've experienced this myself and it is very dangerous

Since I'm still in break in mode, how intrusive is the VDC? In my Mercedes, I switched it off the second I got in the car becasue it was so intrusive. But I was only dealing with about 260 hp.
